couldnt have said it better man, i agree wit nearly everything you said, especially about the non variety, its soooooo boring and i have thought that from day 1 of being intrested in drifting!!! the last day we went to mondello to watch the drift day it was 95% s body nissans,BBBBBBOOOOORRRRRRRIIIIIIINNNNNNGGGGGG odd skyline, few ae86s, and an FC!!!
about d1 etc, yes, i think id prefer to watch them. Its in a completely differant league that no normal person could compete in due to money, but theres variety, and interesting looks and mods etc, none of which i can even think off in prodrift Irl. But they have all the needs for all the poorer drifters over there, as we can see with the likes of the riskydevil boys, endless tracks and trackdays, AND badass cars, winner!
every point of view and opinion helps.
the KT DK Keiichi has upped the entrance fee into D1 recently, and ya cant win or suceed in D1 if your a priveteer, you have to have all the sponsorship, and certain tyre manufactures sponsoring you,
its not really about the skill or driving anymore, espesially if your a priviteer in D1
- luke huxam had a really good blog entry on this subject
PETER T : made a good point when he said prodrift's numbers are a balls, getting 8 laps after traveling to the other end of the country and trying to get used to the car/track in that time is hard to say the least. The organising should be re-thought, which i know it wont.
There are not only S bodies with SR's, i could list 20 very different cars that could mix it with the "coolest" in japan. As already said drifting isnt long in this country and already this year you see big changes to cars, Nigel colfers build, Alan Sinnotts, James Deane's..... Like pete im off topic a little aswell
400 horses............. 1 jockey
I dont watch many vids on the net but i saw one D1 event in-car and from what i can remember it was 2 or 3 corners where the driver didnt leave 4th gear just a couple of shots of the h.brake.... Very dissapointing and seemed to be just 90% down to the car.
400 horses............. 1 jockey
(I shortened the post)
I agree with the above wholeheartedly, driving the length of the country for 2-3 laps is a disgrace and really turns me away from making long haul trips for very little seat time. More regulation is needed.
....and with regards to the monotony of S bodies... have all the ex ITR heads bought 180`s lately or is it just me???
never seen this thread before
some of you guys dont see the bigger picture, as some1 whos been around since the roots and also competed at the top level you've no idea how much the pro commercialised has helped the grass roots scene
