Exclamation Downfall of drifting to a true enthusiasts eyes?

Ok so iv hated d1 for a good few years back now and i havent realy seen my thoughts exactly, come up in a thread on any of the forums so heres my 2c, I cant stand commercialising somthing?a lthough i know it has to be done? its still my personal opinion...

Back when MSC started i was " diggin " the jap competition scene again with new raw from the street underground style BADical cars competeing!

    Msc still rocks mind..

However i never found such a perfect video to rep my thoughts as this new add for Option videos latest...

Note; TKYO DRIFT(English kack branding) Tsuchiya crashing , Car styles are all pretty bumish and functional looking bahh its all sooooo 9pound note'ish

Myself an kev(Gar-4-age 86) are pretty grass roots and hed share these views also..i for 1 will never sell out to shity marketed commercialisin'

There was a thread on DriftWorks a while ago , discussing which drift series/scene is better , the American or Japanese .

I voted the Japanese due to MSC being there , and also because I think the American series is too commercial and seems to be moving away from its roots .....

BUT , you have to consider that in order for anyhting to progress and grow , lots of money need to be pumped into it . In turn the companies which provide that money want to be advertised , and so we get stickered up cars . Personally I prefer the MSC/grass roots/street style cars but sure without company advertising and company backing how else would many drivers be able to afford to run 'their' cars at such a high level .

From the vid though , it does seem that its all getting a bit gay.... which is shit .... ah sure Hooray for JDM tyte titties ,at 1:10 , tho ! :P

guys at the end of the day everyone wants drifting to be accepted and giving the green light by everyone, they only way this is going to happen is if big brand names come on board and inject money into the sport. then of course it gets all glits and glam and people say drifting is forgetting its roots.

now heres the question, how many people off this site are around drifting long enough to be able to talk about its roots??

Its always the same. the people who run and back drifting dont do it the love of the sport, they do it for money.
Its hard to watch something you love get turned into a theatrical performance like that vid is.
That is a load of crap.
the drivers must get a points bonus for hitting the wall.

How long has drifting been out in Japan, Flipping donkeys years. So we are alright over here for the time being. it wont get that bad yet.

Found this, it just proves the point. http://www.hashiriyaexports.com/blog...rise-and-fall/

i agree and disagree with loads of points above, but FOR ME, i dont like the Irish scene as much as nes we see on videos from abroad .Just personaly though!

We get raped on prices to drive shit 'tracks' first of all, thats the main reason i dont compete, or save to compete!

Our track time is bollox, they make you pay your in, and keep letting people pay in and in and in until people just get like, 1 run....wtf is the craic with that. keep it interesting, limit numbers to a certain extent!

Also, there is no irish cars that i can think of off my head that are apealing to me! it does my head in! all the vids from comps in Jap etc, and they have aaaaaaaaaaaall the variants of cars, all mad wheels and style! Come to Ireland, and its an s body nissan, with an sr20, rotas and a uras copy kit. yaaaaaaaaaaawn.

Id love to go to an even in Jap, and event in fact, they look like there having so much fun! they arent so feckin serious al the time, they fix things with hammers and cable ties and get on with it! thats my scene, variety, laid back, but still the skilled ones come out best. and its decent to watch with all the bad ass cars!

so anyway, whats this thread about?
