    Default Sr20 knocking sound

    It's not my engine so can't say 100% but it's at idle and slight reving he says it sounds like its coming from the timing chain area... An ideas?

    It's a redtop if that would make any difference? If it was the vct sprocket and left as is would it cause damage?

    Is vct the same as vvt? I haven't a clue when it comes to things like that

    Its the same thing people just use different things to describe it. Nissans system is called vct or vtc whichever but it is essentially variable valve timing so that's where the vvt comes from.

    As Bart said it won't be that if it's a red top.
