    Default SR20 DET problem

Well lads, i am currently building a road going Sil80. I have recently put in a Non VVT blacktop turbo engine into the car. I finally got the car to run last night but when the car was running on a slight rev for a minute or two the exhaust manifold would start to glow orange with the heat it was generating. Iv tried 3 differnt types of ECU's, Ran it with and without the airflow meter, I adjusted the Cam Angle Sensor (CAS) on the side of the head, All the boost pipes are connected. Iv switched the Fuel Pressure Regulator. The car has a front mount on it. There is no Cat in it at the minute. There is water circulating. A few lads have suggested over fueling, but what would be causing it to over fuel? Any suggestions ye have would be greatly appriciated. Cheers!

I would of said block cat or some sort of restriction in the exhaust but youve stated the cat is off, make sure theres no blockage, and recheck your timing could be a few teeth off ,Could probably pull a diagram from somwhere for the timing mark settings if you want.

Its worth a try but if the exaust is blocked or restricted it would choke its self or not start.
The cas unit on the side has to be aligned correctly before its bolted up and as said get a timing strobe,
What fuel reg is it? If its adjustable and someone has messed with it?

I have seen this problem 3 times, once it was because the distributor was in wrong and the ignition timing was way off, the second time i saw the problem i found a bad Throttle Position Sensor. The third time i found that the timing chain had jumped a few teeth and thrown off the valve timing. A clogged exhaust system will not cause this problem as i have seen numerous (completely)clogged Catalytic Converters and the chief symptoms are: lack of power or no start.
An overheating motor will not cause this problem either. I've lost count of how many overheated motors I've seen and that has never caused a glowing exhaust.
I would begin by using a timing light and check ths base timing, then scan the motor to see if you have a bad Throttle Position Sensor.

Had you the head or cams out of it ? Check the cam timing will also cause this
