For a car that's used on the road quite abit, anything above 3.64 will be serious good craic everytime you drive it... For about 2 miles
A 328 is very low to start with at 2.93. Even a 3.15 makes a big difference so I'd be looking out for a 3.46 cwp.
You'll get a 3.46 cwp from an M50 engined E34 520 so plenty about and cheap as chips.
If its a car that's going to be driven on the road just for abit of craic for a few hours a few nights a week and get down to every day there's a drift day in Mondello, a 3.64 or 3.73 would be good. Get the cwps of those out of E30 325s.
If just a track car, 4.1-4.45. Get those out of US auto 325s or old E28 520s and some very early 12v engined E34s.
I'd say a 3.46 would be perfect for you.
Your right Dave 3.46 would be high enough on a 328 road car with a top speed 126mph, its near enough the same top speed as a m3 with a 4.10 and a top speed 124mph.
328 with a top speed of 106mph would be a bit thirsty alright on the motorway lol
Top speed X stock ratio / new ratio = new top speed
240km/h X 2.93 / 3.46 = 203 km/h / 126mph
240km/h X 2.93 / 4.10 = 171km/h / 106mph
260X3.15/4.10=199km/h / 124mph

Exactly although I wouldn't want to be doing much motorway spins with a 3.46 either. 328 even with a 3.15 was thirsty enough on Mike Barry's old 328. Was some car to go though even with a completely standard engine!
i dont mean to thread hi jack on ya peter but while the gurus are here ive a quick question
has anyone run a 4.44 in a 328 or is that just mental high
btw its a dedicated track car used mostly at tynagh
i have a 3.46 atm just want an opinion on using a 4.44 in a 328i on track really
