Sr20 ticking when hot, head wrecker!!

Right so here goes, i was doing a bit of hard driving one night and on the drive home i noticed a ticking from the engine,
Started the car the next morning and the ticking was gone but after driving it for 5 mins the ticking was back so i guessed it was a bad lifter.. Had a spare head with good lifters in it so i changed all 8 after bleeding them for air..

Took it for a drive and the ticking came back followed by a missfire over 3500rpm, so head wrecked i checked the coils.. thought one might be firing down in the hole but they're all fine,

So i'm runnin out of ideas here the ticking seems to be coming from the rear of the head so i don't think it's the vvt but not sure.. valve maybe or bearing in a piston i dunno only does it when hot

changed 8 lifters ? Theres 16 in a head so change the other 8...

Sounds like a lifter problem to me tho except the misfire!

The only time i heard that noise was when i broke a rocker in an sr..

I had all the camgear out changing the lifters and everything seemed fine,
it's runnin fine on all 4 cylenders in low revs, cheers anyway..

Could be way off, but i had a ticking in my old rb which increased with the revs, was mani gasket blowing from one small part
