    Default KE70restoration/20v

Here is my ke70 corolla that iv been tipp'n away at since last Christmas, between college and working. My plan is to get the body into good shape again, then to complete 20valve conversion. I want to keep the cars original stock interior, to keep its retro feel, but improve mechanical performance with modern components. This will be a road(Sunday driver)/ odd track day car, when ever its finished.....

When i got this car a good few years ago!! At that time I didn't have the confidence in my ability's to complete such a project, so i sold on to a mate and regretted ever since....
when i got the opportunity to buy it back last year i jumped at the chance. As I knew i could manage it now, and the work involved in restoring the body back into decent shape as these pic's show its condition!!

My mate didn't do a tap of work to it since i sold it to him at that time... but he did gather up some of replacement panels, which made life easier for me!!

So when i went to start work on it last Christmas I kinda walk round it for bout 10mins scratching head thinking "where to start"....
So i picked the worst spot....

    Up dates later!!

At this point i moved on to the rear lower pockets, starting with the easier one to motivate me to get stuck in to the other side

Then on to the passages side, which is pretty bad shape....

Now at this point while I was working on this side of the car, I had to replace a section of the rear arch. i couldn't find a replacement one anywhere so i improvised by using a front wing cutting away what i need to suit the rear arch..
Now its not a perfect match, but its pretty dame close..bit of filler it'll be sound!!

    Time to weld her off!!!

small bit under the taillight need do to!!

On to the spare wheel well Next..
