I got a bit further with my brakes over the weekend.

i couldnt get the lower joint out so just took the arm off, much easier.

It only took me about an hour and a half to get to this point, which i thought was pretty good going after hearing some others accounts of trying to get the rear hubs off. But things were going a bit too smoothly.

with the backplates and shoes on and i was happy enough with myself. Then realised i was ment to cut the dust shield out of it for the bigger discs :annoyed: after some swearing and grinding,

I have to get the calipers ready for the brake kit next and then get the whole lot bolted back on the car tomorrow night and have a go at getting the handbrake cables run.

I made up 4 of these little lads after work. I had planned on making them from stainless but it went missing from where i had it hid in work so its made from so bit of scrap steel i found in the bin. Il get them zinc plated or powered coated during the week.

    time for an update..

I wanted to get the injector driver wired in before i pulled off the plenum to make that it was put in right, just to rule out this incase something crops up when i go about starting her again. Ive mounted it on the firewall and went about wiring it in.

    i love wiring :wack:

all in, wrapped and tucked up nicely

    my new TB

since i had to bore out my plenum to 70mm it obviously wasnt ment to work with a throttle body this size so naturally it wont bolt directly on :annoyed:

if it wasnt awkward it wouldnt be fun eh? im going to make up a 10mm thick adapotor plate to make the 2 fit together.

theres a nice difference between the N1 and 180 TB

I got the plenum pulled off next

i was a bit supprised at just a how big it is.

and the greddy copy one test fitted,

and quite possibly the best thing about the new plenum

i can actaully put my hand on the oil filter!!

id did a small test fit with the injectors in and some fuel rail and it sits alot higher that the standard rail. When its all i dont know if my strut brace will fit over it, if it does its going to be tight id say

Some of the final parts arrived today too

To make the throttle body fit onto the plenum properly i had to make up an adaptor plate.

So i went into work with this,

i didnt have as much time to use the machine centre as i would have liked so i only got to machine out the main bore on it before i had stick up the fuel rail to bore that out.

When i got home i finished the adaptor plates off,

i ended up needing 2 plates with varying off centre holes to mate them together properly. I had hoped in the begininng to only machine up one plate, but the bolt patterns of the plenum and TB werent going for that.

the first plate went on with a few modified m8's

along with some liquid gasket to keep everything air tight

for some reason i stopped taking pics at this point, but heres the whole lot bolted together.

After that was done i went about sticking on the rest of my rear brakes,

after reading all stories about lads in the past fitting the shoes i was supprised how easily it all went and that the handbrake cables lined up so well. but then again they are s13 cables so they should have lined up lol

I need to tighten them up a bit still, ive got to pull the handbrake to almost vertical to get any real bite.

After that some un-needed electronics were pulled from the car,

my knackered profec A and hks vpc out of the way. Ive fitted a new gizzmo controller instead and seems good so far but its only been just set up to a bare min. for now.

Then came the re-running of the fuel lines and fitting the 044 and swirl pot.
after some debating with myself i settled on putting the pot here,

i ended up being the only real place it would work for me.

the 044 is mounted below the pot in the spare wheel well, there supposed to be mounted below the level of the pot? or so ive been told anyways.

for now its held in pikey spec with some cable ties, but ive got some alu. brackets in the making but just didnt have the time needed to get them done. But its solid as a rock where it is for now. Ive hard wired both pumps to the battery too

i didnt take any pics of all the shitty work involved in fitting the new plenum but what a pain in the arse of a job a good bit more involved than i was expecting.

This is how everything looks at the min,

i tried to keep everything tidy as i went along and ripped out as many T pieced vacuum lines and un needed bits as i went.

I got the car finished monday morning and it was mapped on the way upto mondello by stiv, it wasnt what youd call smooth with a couple of small fcuk ups on the way :annoyed: boost pipe came off and a quick fix cable tie got cought under the TB and held the throttle open :wack: but once we got that sorted it was mapped to run safe to 1.2bar.

once up at mondello things were going great for about 8 or 10 laps or so. I came into the pits to let stuff cool down a little when someone spotted a puddle growing under the engine. I popped the bonnet to see ethenol pissing from one of my injectors

I thought it was an O ring burst at first but after swapping around different O rings on the injector and moving it around to different positions on the rail it seems like theres something up with the injector, no matter what seal was on it or where in the rail it was positioned it kept pissing out fuel so that ended my day pretty quickly. I was pissed but things could have been alot worse.

so for now the car is back sitting outside my garage waiting for me to pull out the injector to see if i can see what exactly has happened with it.
A plumped in fire extingusher has now been bumped upto the top of my shopping list
