Well when people don't have money to be throwing it about, they propably stick to the easy solution and buy a Nissan.

Lots of grip from an RX, the Rotary engine, lock.. The fuel and oil..

Nothing wrong with them, just cheaper and easier to set yourself up with a Nissan or Toyota I reckon.

I say go for it. If not use it as a 'mad bawstit' daily and bulk buy pertol.

Theres loads of threads on drifworks about these.

One fella says who loves rotarys that they will outlast any piston engine if well looked after and maintained in performance motorsports conditions. And when mapped right they are actually more economical than a piston engine in motorsport conditions.

But then some fella who love piston engines sr's rbs etc will tell you the exact opposite that rotarys are unreliable, uneconomical (which they are for road use ) etc etc.

So your never going to get a straight heads up opinion.

Simo on here currently building the red SIL80 had one before and rebuilt the engine himself IIRC. Was an insane sound from his. Worth getting him to reply to this thread as he had his for a number of years and it the spec on it seemed very track orientated.

Would an S body still be cheaper to buy though? Last time I looked on donedeal RX7's still were making a lot more than S bodies.

as dave says, its all about caring for it!!
mine got awful abuse before it popped, you can buy apex seals for less than £200 online.
its a great handling car, it was single turbo great for drag, a bit laggy for drifting. I've gone v8 now cos I couldn't part with the rx an had the v8 at home, it would be good to see more of them out, there should be three of us down at the next mondello!!!!

If it ain't a V it aint for me!
