    Default 1JZ Mini

How are tings, my name is Liam and I'm from cork.

My project is definitely something different, as ye may see from the title I'm building a single turbo 1JZ mini.

The general spec of the engine is going to be similar to the 1JZ in the Driftworks R32 Skyline, so single Garrett Gt35r, 264 cams, 650cc injectors, possible a slightly ported head, bigger valves and stronger valve springs. Gearbox is going to be a standard R154 and the diff is a TRD 2 way.

The car is going to be a full tubular spaceframe with double wishbone suspension front and rear, I yet have to decide what hubs I will use, either ford, honda or custom.

Wheels and tyres are also undecided, but probably will be diamond racing wheels, 13x12 for the back and 13x8 for the front. Tyres, front will be a rally style and rears will be either slicks or circuit racing tyres.

Anyway now the pictures, the interesting bit.

This is what I started with.

The 1JZ next to the standard a series.

    Started chopping the mini up.

Placed the engine in the hole to see if it actually fitted.

Yes the engine is under there!^^^^^

Got a little bit of steel to make a table/jig for it.

    All cut up.

    All welded.

Hmmm, where to put the steering rack????

    Random pic.

I took a main and big end off and was meet with this, could be better!

    Floor pan.

    A little delivery of bits.

    Space is a bit tight!

At least my feet will be warm!

Started work on the transmission tunnel.

Said I better put a top on the table before I go too far.

First time in a long while that the mini was outside!

    Back on the transmission tunnel.

    Mini back on the table.

Thats it for now will update again when I get my hands on a tube bender!
