Finally got a chance to get back working on the car last week.

Right & left over fenders fitted 90%. Need to fit skirts and rear bumper to tie everything in and there will be a small bit of trimming to do.

Also got the boot pretty much sorted and straightened out. Happy enough with it, its no road car so it'll do the job!

I've a new m20 saches clutch kit to go in along with some new engine mounts, should get them in this week

The last week has been pretty intense! Work was busy and getting the car finished was busier again.

We got the new clutch and engine mounts in the week before along with installing the new short shifter.

Then last monday morning all the fibreglass arrived in Mallow, so monday evening we drove down and collected everything.
Pretty much every panel on the car is fibreglass now: Front bumper, bonnet, front wings, doors, rear over fenders and boot lid. I decided to go this route than going for more power which would inevitably cost more and more money in the long run, and I really want to see what the little 328 is capable of

So tuesday, wednesday and thursday night Gary and myself go stuck into the car and fitted all the body work. Only for Gary's help the car would still not be completed.

I also got my wheels sand blasted and painted, the old green wheels will not suit the new livery! They turned out great, delighted with them now.

I bought a wing off Gary a few weeks ago and after a bit of thinking I decided to go with it and try to make it work.
Delighted how it turned out, made the upstands from hardened 10mm pvc, Brian from Kaber made the brackets from stainless steel, 10mm bars heat wrapped to provide extra support then.

Lots of small bits tidied up on the car then which always take the longest but eventually on saturday evening I got to take some photo's of in its raw state before it for a full wrap this week.

Yesterday we got to bring it a for a quick few runs to make sure everything is OK. All went well, and it was great to let a few of the lads that have helped me out take it for a spin, I was a little nervous seeing other people drive it!

So it's going for a full design wrap on wednesday and it should be done by thursday, just on time for a few photo's before it's wrecked at round 1!

Title sponsor will be announced then, can't wait!

    Default IDC Round 1 Update

Last wednesday morning I dropped the car to Signs Express Mullingar for its full wrap. The lads had only two days to get it done so they were under pressure.
I collected it on thursday evening, 95% finished. Front and back bumper need to be done.
Absolutely delighted how it turned out. Really freshened up the car.

After logging in mondello friday morning I finally got a chance to take some photo's and announce my main sponsor for 2015:
"Zeetex have generously come on board to provide full support in association with Mileage Tyres Mullingar (Zeetex Ireland Tyre Wholesaler).
Without the support of Zeetex, competing in the Irish Drift Championship this year would not have been possible, so I am very grateful for their sponsorship.
ZEETEX product portfolio comprises of tyres, batteries & lubricants and offers over 500 different items for the automotive industry.
Thanks to Signs Express (Mullingar) for completing the wrap and signage on the car & also to Infamous Creations for the design work."

I just got two morning practice runs in which were a disaster.
Afternoon practice went pretty good and I felt confident again in the car. Car was flying, not problem chasing the big power cars and getting on their doors which felt great.

Then saturday morning came along with all the rain. I just couldn't get a clean run in during practice, front of the car was all over the place. Think I only managed one decent run during this session.

Qualifying came and I just fluffed both runs, spun on the first after a mad angle entry, and scored a very low score on the second.

The car came home in one piece which is lucky for me! Few things to sort on the front end for the next day. New grip tyres, replace bushes and get a full alignment.

Booked in for the clubloose drift day so hopefully I can just get my confidence back during that days practice.

This photo pretty much sums up how I felt after qualifying ended....

    As I said on facebook:
"Competitive drifting is an emotional roller coaster at times.
Months & months of work come down to two 30 second qualification runs just to reach the top 32.
Bad days make the good days that much sweeter"

Thanks lad, yeah some sweet photo's alright.
Hopefully I'll get to compete at round 2, limit on driver numbers so we'll see what happens.
