Thumbs up Sr20 engine.....Stroker,sleeve or 87mm pistons with rods

Right I am looking for peoples views, facts and opinions on this.
I have a sr20 bottom end I want to rebuild for the new year but u want it reliable and safe. I have narrowed it down to three options stroker, sleeved block or 87mm pistons with rods. Yes I know that I will need to buy a Stroker kit and with the sleeved block i plan on using forged rods.

My worries are with Stroker are that it might not like the revs I plan on running the engine to 9k.

I have heard alot of pros and cons on the sleeved block and I will have to (i my view i would) chamber the head with this also. Anyone any experience with with getting their block sleeved or has anyone looked in to this option?

Then there is the simplest and easiest option is to use 87mm pistons and forged rods.

I have discussed these options with other people aswell but would like to hear ye're views

Just looking for views or opinions on the block the head is not a issue.

;-) quick off the mark today lol
No point tearing apart a good engine when you can reuse a broken one

i dont know if it was the first in ireland, but 3 or 4 years ago i built an sr22
    darton sleeves bored to 90mm
    forged crank,pistons and steel rods
    high compression

yeah,it was savage, but if i had to do it again,id keep my hard earned, and stick a 3071 onto a standard engine

if it blows, just replace the block

    the cost/bhp is stupid

some might disagree, but this is from experience

I have built loads of sleeved SRs.
My engineering nam is brilliant at it... For proper stepped liners exactly the same as HKS your talking roughly £680 for supplying, fitting them Boring to whatever size and surfacing the block...
I have been running my sleeved engine for years at over 2 bar boost with a 35 on it...
lots of drift cars up here running sleeved engines.
As for 90mm bores still not leaving a massively thick liner...Id prob stay 88mm max. (mine is 86mm)
I have revved stroker engines to 8k easily but never pushed them to 9K so dont know how they will do up there.
To rev to 9k and make power rite up to it you need LOTS of head work...
I had mine revving to 9K but it involved custom massively heavy double springs and retainers, Heat treated rockers, Valve seats and guides sunk, 290deg cams, modified chambers, Stainless valves, Solid lifters and shim clearance set very tight.
If you want any more info give me a shout...

I agree...I have seen as much hp on some 2L basic builds as on big 2.2+L ones.
Turbo and fuel choice would be a better spend than 2.2 stroker... though the torque and early spool is nice...

Cheers Richard for the info but as I said the head isn't the issue and I don't have to worry about rocker arms.
Any more feed back or info on this lads?Thinking about sleeving the block but have a few doubts in my head about it.
Also on the bearing side of things I am abit gone off acl bearings as they only have one grade as opposed to Nissan any other recommendations
