bmw 318is any good for drifting

how ye lads...is a 318is bmw anygood for driftin, if its stripped out to the last and a hydraulic handbrake thrown in? i was going to get a 180sx for the track but figured i should start with somthin a bit cheaper, i can get a 318 handy enough so anyone here have one on the track before?

they would be seriously under powered lad. the little 4 cylinder isnt strong anough for the over all weight of them 3 series bodys

yeah man my young fella has one 318ti compact same as 318is stripped out and wielded up and when i drive it in the dry it don"t wanna go in second just slipping on the clutch when under pressure,,,, but its fine for the young lad in first gear 2nd all day long in the wet no prob,,,, would go for a m50 engine in it loads of torque in em as thats wat i"ll be putting in he"s little skidder when he"s able handle it properly...

Stripped to the bone, small 15" wheels and welded diff (maybe higher ratio) and it would be alright.

Obviously, an E30 iS would slide fairly well due to less weight and less grippy rear axle but an E36 with some reasonably decent suspension will still be fun.

Will be no 328 or M3 but if looking for alittle bit of craic especially during the winter months it would be grand. If you can get a 325, it would be a better bet though.

exactly what dave said and i got a e36 318is and its grand just put a decent tyre pressure in the back and be fairly aggresive drifting it with plenty of speed and you'll be fine the hydraulic is handy i have one in mine and i can come in to a corner fast and slide through no problem with it
