and the problem is??
yeah it's 4wd and it will be staying like this, it's the family car that im doing so work on so im not going mad on it, i would love to do something like a RWD conversion, but i rather wait till im in the positiont to buy and run a 2nd car then get something RWD,
i just thought i'd share what im up to as some people might be interested in it, and those who are not interested why bother posting, just pass it by and leave it at that![]()
Dude I think what he is trying to say this is DRIFTireland (rwd forum) and anybody who would be interested in your build would be on the Dtd forum where it would fit in, but hey you solider on sweetheart![]()
ah i know what you mean, i enjoy going through build threads and there is a lot of very good ones on here that i spend hours looking at, so i just said feck it i'l post my one up as well, if one person thinks its a good read sure its all good, so i'l solider on and if it needs to be deleted because it's not drift related its not the end of the world
moved to members cars pics!
hooray for subaru noises!
Cheers Chris
and sorry for any bother peter
Update time
we are really making good progress with this now, we have the rust gone and new panels welded in and more or less ready to go,
Wednesday's work:
Eric started off where he left off the following day and chopped out more rotted panels, he took the inner skin off to find more rust
he cut out a section and cleaned it all up them welded in a cut out fron the new sill section we had,
here he is grinding down the welds and then primed up and panel sealer put on as well
now it was time to line up the inner panel and get it tacked up and then weld it in
while Eric was at all this i was working on the far side blocking the primer down to get it ready for paint and heres the result
we then called it a night and locked up
Thursday's Work:
we stared off thursday nights work by getting the welds cleaned up on the sill while Eric had his hands full with that i got cracking on the boot, i wanted to shave off the lock so i fiberglassed the inside of it and skimed the out side with filler then primed it up
i also filled it the headlight washers on the front bumper as i hated the look of them and it really gave the bumper a real smooth look and also primed it
i also primed up the rear passenger door as we took it off to to the sill
That was really all we got done that night and plus we wanted to take an early night as we worked till just about 12 every night so far
Friday's Work:
I got the rear bumper in primer on friday but have no pics so you'l have to take my word for it lol
While waiting on stuff to arive Eric got cracking on the front wing and door while i got sanding on the primed parts not really much of an update as we just spent the night sanding, saturday was more or less the same and we took sunday off
Monday's Work:
Same really again on monday just primer to be rubbed down while Eric was cutting and trying on the new sill section
boot ready for paint now as well as the passenger door and both bumpers
with most of the cutting done Eric was ready to try up the new section, we riveted the new bit in just to try the gaps and in the 1st go as you will see it looks spot on, the bottom part needs to pull out a wee bit
thats it for now, we are going to be at it again later so i will update as soon as i can
Right people as of last night the wagon is done apart for needing a good clean on the inside she's ready to go
in this update im just continuing from wher i left off, i am not posting the final job as yet as i want to save that for who ever is at heatwave, it's a very hard colour to get right in a photo so it's best to be seen in person
Right we left off last time with the sill tacked in, we got it all welded up the next day and the 1st skim of filler was put on
while this was going on i was priming the rest of the parts and re sealing the back panel
again i had these bit's done Eric was done with the sill so more primer was needed
we called it a night and left it at that, the next day i was on my own as Eric was in work for the day so i got stuck into sanding the rest of the primed parts and building the car back up so i could drive it to the body shop i rented for the weekend
at this stage i was getting a bit excited as it wouldn't of been to long till it was all painted
i arived in the body shop and started to strip it all back down and get the shell into the oven and painted that night before i left
and one of the man himself Eric
while mixing the paint up me and one of the lad's had a yap about the colour and did 2 test cards one with a grey primer base like the car was and one with a black base and i have to say the black base just made the colour pop that bit more so i went in and put down a black base on the shell
now as i said above i dont want to show off the final colour but i'l give a little teaser pic for now and will update after heatwave when i get the chance to take some good proper pics
