    Default Scooby wagon Project

Just thought i'd share this here with you good folk, it's my 96 WRX wagon i got last year, i swaped my eg6 for it and i have to say i love it,

anyway here goes, 1st off i have a few pics of it just after i got it

    Spec on it was:

    unknown shit looking wheels
    poxy headlights
    fucked front lip
    HKS BOV
    Hks turbo timer
    K&N filter
    and carbon bonnet

now the first thing i did was scrap the wheels, i managed to pick up a set of ssr type c wheels for 200 euro one of them had a slight buckle in it but i got that fixed also they are in bad need of a respray

next on the list was to get a new set of brake disc's, new front lip, new head lights and a nice exhaust, so i ordered all of the above and got cracking with the upgrade's

while doing the disc's i gave the front calipers a sanding and a lick of paint, few pics here now of the brakes getting done

and just a before and after with the wheel on

now with that done i set about binning the old headlights and fitting the new black crystal kit i got and also the new jun style lip

next on the list was the TSL back box i got off a mate of mine

and an up to date pic of how she looked after all that work

that was it then for a few months till i saved up again to do a full respray on the bitch, i have a build thread on another site so im just going to copy and paste

started on the respray last night and Got a shit load of work done, we started about half 6 and by half 8 we had it all striped down, we then discovered that we where out of welding wire so the sill had to wait till today we cracked on with a few repairs and have the drivers side now ready for primer also we got the wheel arches rolled, way easyer than I thought it was going to be, not bad for one nights work, heres some pics of the progress

you can see Eric hard at work in the pic above lol

now finaly got the car in and had a good walk around it making note of all the dents that we need to do, next is just some walk around shots

now it was time to get the hands dirty and get her striped down, we started at the front end and worked our was around the car till we ended up with her looking like this

with the car striped down quicker than we thought ( took an hour and a half ) we cracked on with getting some repair work done, 1st off was the rust on the arch then we rolled both arches on the drivers side i wasn't lookin forward to doing this but i was supprised it only took 10 minutes for each arch so happy days, then we put a light filler skim on the little dents all up along the sides and then we called it a night

    Front arch before rolling

    and after rolling

still a bit of sanding to be done on the inner part of the arch, will be going back it it later today and will have an update tomorrow

    Day 2 update:

picked up some supplies yesterday to keep us going till next week and we cracked on with the work again last night, this is how we got on

the plan for lastnights work was to finish up the filler work on the drivers side and get it in primer so thats what i got stuck into, below you will see it all sanded down and masked up for the primer to go on

after a good clean with panel wipe and a good tacking i started putting down the 1st of 4 coats of high build primer and when all done this is how she looked

while i was at this Eric was working away on the far side on the rusty sill, a few months ago we where going to sort out a bit of rust on the wheel arch just to get it through the NCT then re do it properly when i was doing the respray, here the small bit we wanted to do

we striped off the side skirt so we would not damage it when welding only to find this

at some time in it's life the car got a new 1/4 panel and who ever put it on never sealed it up and it leaked and just rotted away right on the weld line, when we seen this we straight away said this is going to need a new sill section, we welded in a few bit of sheet metal just for a bit of strength untill we got all the parts needed to do it right, so with a bit of welding and filler we left it this way untill now

the 1st thing to do now was take the rear door off and get cutting and drill out all the spot welds

with all the cutting and drilling the section just more or less fell off

this is where we gave up as it was getting late, as you can see the rot has gone in a good bit so we will be doing the inner section now as well as the outer section to tonight should see all the rot gone and the new bits tacked it and lined up ready for welding
