So here goes update time. Got little time to update between working and working on the car till late hours but got a little time tonight because i can't move on till i get more parts.
Rear end of the chassis got cleaned, wire brushed any old underseal that was cracking or had cracks in it and stone chipped the underside and arches, made sure to get into all the awkward areas
Sprayed the heat shield and brake line shield and it looks the part now!
Bolted up the subframe, all the washers for the mounts got the same treatment including the nuts in blue and matt black
Painted the brake callipers and put them on. Different blue to the rest of it its the same blue my rocker cover is painted etc.
Went ahead and touched up the silver rear end after i trimmed away a bit more of it and everything is nice and tidy again so slapped on the bumper, rear is pretty much done!

With the rear end done its time to move forwards, the front of the car.
Took a trip to DI Motorsport where i picked up my modded front subframe with the steering rack now moved 25mm forward and my new Japspeed extra lock tension rods which are bad ass! Jay and the team have been nothing but brilliant people to get service from! After the gearbox issue in the past and propshaft and getting the whiteline anti roll bars from then they are still 100% so made so much sense to give them more service.
I got cracking at the subframe the next day, cleaned, wirebrushed and painted and painted the rack brackets.
Before that went in I had to put the new japspeed engine mounts in i got over christmas. Lovely job!
Assembled my front suspension on the ground just to get the idea of it, nice bit of education for meself anyway![]()
What you see here is:
-The front subframe
-dw lca's which i also painted silver
-dw geomasters
-japspeed tie rods and ends
-And james spillane rack spacers which give the max the rack will give while still retaining all your threads! Brilliant quality highly recommended!
Ive decided i won't be using these rod ends and they will be up for sale soon!

Last bit of work i got done was putting on the lca's and tension rods and hubs. Coilover lower cups needed grinding to mount to the geomasters which annoyed me a bit but regardless, got it done. Hadn't got the same colour yellow for the lower cups and i wasn't removing the original daiyama stickers so I faded in blue to them and looks exactly all it needed to be and it works so fine with me!
Powersteering lines also up and on.
Have to give great thanks to my buddy jj for getting me subframe mounting bolts in such short notice and going out of his way to do so. Cheers buddy!
So whats left to do now.
-Get power steering fluid
-Longer rack boots
-Fit lower cups and bolt suspension back up
-Put on hubs and discs
-Paint front callipers
-Get the car aligned
-Sort out exhaust from scraping
-Get rear spoiler on and stuck down
-Do the interior bits (more on that in due time)
-Just general here and there bits I can't think of right now
What a car! This is a proper build. One the best builds I've come across on the net imo. Looks spotless
Well fucking done!!

Thanks for your feedback on the thread and kind words, I appreciate it, alot! Atleast I know im not updating the thread for nothing and people are actually tuning in, I like hearing peoples criticism its a pitty it doesn't happen on here as much anymore!
Since last update.
Got power steering fluid and put some in.
Got universal track rod boots, bit fiddly but worked a treat and are a bit longer than the standard ones. I wanted longer ones because of the rack spacers so I wasn't kinking the boot when stretched.
Hubs on knuckles, coilovers cups wound on, need to adjust the height when its down on the ground to check for scrubbing etc.
Cleaned up the brake callipers like the rear, got the 2 locking pins on the calliper holding in the pads, wire brushed any old crap off them and gave them a mist of silver, looks the dogs dangleys just doing that!
I took the 25mm spacers off the back and put them back on the front. With the camber i had set before which was max, and the lengthened lca's and the hubs pushed in on top, the fitment was hilarious! Camber was mad! So pulled back out the top of the hub on the coilover and let out the camber top mounts to see what it was like. When i let them out i let them out to positive camber, but let them back into 0. Its not far off 0 but it does still have some negative camber. Then again, ill have to adjust this more when its on the ground.
The bracket in the wheel arch holding the brake lines either side, i just moved it over so the wheel doesn't scrub it on lock. Also looking like when the car goes lower, ill have to get out the persuasion tool at the arches so the wheel doesn't hit on lock.
Heres some pics. So far im F****** delighted with it! The lock is crazy! Heres some pics!
Still to fit anti roll bar, after that front is pretty much finished suspension wise.
My kumho ecsta's probably won't work with the look i want to go with on the car. Lower, camber, nice and flush on the arch and using the lock. It will scrub, alot so chances are if my new wheels which are 17's work on it like im hoping, ill use them with sticky tyre. If not ill have to go with a smaller 18'' tyre with some stretch.
I don't want my car sitting high and horrible, its a drift car, it has to look cool aswell!
Watch this space, progress is happening!
Give me some feedback too! Come on driftireland members I know this forum isn't dead!
