There is no way you need e cat for NCT for a car that was reged before 94 lad, i think you have different issues with the emissions, you better c heck it out !

ya lad mine is jap 86 and had a cat and i took it out and fitted a full janspeed and she passed the test no probs,
check and see is there an after market ecu in it or throttle bodies she might be just set up wrong. overfueling etc
