    Default Project 200 - Road car

    Alright lads, taught I'd start a thread on here with my jammer as I finally got the finger out and started upping the power

    I bought this car off Davev from here, who sold it to his friend Dave a couple of years ago and then bough it back again as he was going through withdrawal symptoms knowing he only owned 1 high performance Jap beast.

    Dave brought me for a spin some evening while we were at a BBQ in his house and I don't think I could have fallen for something any more then I did for this car... I loved absolutely everything about it and still do. It's the first car I have ever been able to sit in the passenger seat with my girlfriend driving and still thoroughly enjoy it.

    Enough gay talk... So far I haven't got to much (more) done to it, I've been toying around with some of the features it already has and just really learning how to use it without killing myself. It already has a good bit done to it so allot of initial obvious modifications have been descoped and I've been made look at a much bigger picture.

    Since I've owned it I've spent most of my time up the mountains, like I said, just learning how to use it;

    I've been cleaning it;

    I've been finding things that need to be fixed;

    And I've been fixing things while learning the basics;

    Current spec list is as follows;

    ENGINE
    induction kit
    front mounted intercooler
    3inch down pipe
    3inch decat silencera
    stainless steel mongoose exhaust
    greddy profect B boost controller
    cusco catch tank
    mocal 19row oil cooler
    walbro fuel pump
    apexi turbo timer / AF gauge
    varley red top race battery
    all alloy bigger rad

    SUSPENSION
    tein s-tech spring
    Agx adjustable shocks
    Whiteline camber adjustable bolts
    apex rear camber arms
    enki rps-o2j 17x8f817x9
    15mm spacers on front
    kazz 2way lsd brand new about 6000miles ago
    front and back upper strut braces

    INTERIOR
    boost ,oil temp,oil pressure gauges

    It was on a RR and got a healthy 265bhp with 275ft/lb of torque

    This is a project thread though and I did make my first performance enhancing decision/purchases recently...

    I invested in a Z32 AFM, a substancially bigger Greddy T518Z turbocharger and some Nismo 555cc injectors Unfortunately as I have a standard clutch (BRAND NEW ) I will have to replace it with a stronger unit as the standard clutch is only good for only ~300bhp.

    I have to buy a stronger clutch now so once I have that the car will be brought away to get a NIStune ECU installed and mapped with all the extra goodies... I'm hoping for anything above 320bhp with similar ft/lb of torque. I'm not, however, chasing power figures, I absolutely love the feeling of it being a challenge to pull yourself forward once the turbo spools up, the turbo I have gone for is fairly fast spooling and is good for ~400bhp - Full boost is expected around 3800rpm so it's not going to become undrivable on the roads..

    Next on my to do list is getting the brakes sorted - The standard S14 brakes are possibly the worst brakes I have ever used and the lack of confidence I have while driving hard with them is unbelievable. I most likely should have got them fixed before opting into more power but I got a great deal on the upgrades I have decided on so brakes will be next.... Closely followed by a decent set of Coilovers.

    This is all going to be one big learning game - I'm trying as much of the work as possible myself, obviously things like mapping will be done professionally but everything else I'll at least try until I fail and document it so everyone can have a good laugh on here.

    I'll update when I can.

    I picked up some of the parts on Saturday off Petko, he made everything so easy and has been more then helpful with everything ! I owe him a massive thanks as he held the parts for me

    I then decided to fit the turbo & manifold on Sunday.... It was a pretty rough job doing it on the driveway and honestly I don't think I would do it again without a ramp/lift. It took 9 and a half hours.

    Before:

    Engine bay looking sorry for itself:

    Old turbo:

    Had some casualties/scares:

    Everything starting to come together:

    New manifold looks much better then standard !

    Premium, luxury workshop haha:

    It was late/dark so ignore the pic quality but here is the finished piece:

    That's everything for now

    I have a Profec B boost controller so started her up and ran on fairly low boost initially (still have standard injectors, ECU, AFM etc) to avoid fuel cut and she pulled like a train ! Brought the boost up slightly to 16psi just to see what it was like and, in the dry, the wheels just lit up the second 4000rpm came in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear which I was not expecting this early on I'm delighted with the results so far and I still have the Map, injectors, AFM, adjustable pulleys and a few other bits and pieces to look forward to !

    Boost has been brought back down very low (5psi) until I get her mapped properly... Still feels more powerful then she was haha..

    Anyway, I'll keep this updated.

    Jes dude, really sounds as if you're gay for your car. Much would a new turbo such as that set you back?

    Sound, wouldn't really be into jabbin it in the car to be honest...

    Depends on where you buy, new/second hand etc... New your looking at ~€1600 for the kit where as second hand you would be looking at anywhere between 5 and 8 hundred.

    Comin along well dude! Road cars ftw!

    EDIT: Mean't to say if your looking at upgrading the brakes a set of proper 4pot R32 gtr brakes will make a serious improvement!
