    Default Project Stagea

Ok so this is a 1996 Spec 1 Nissan Stagea with an RB25det engine commonly found in a nissan skyline. She is auto and is currently 4WD but the plan is to convert it to Manual and RWD.

Pic's of it when i first piced it up back in Oct 2009

Ok so when i got it first she was completly standard...Had so many ideas floating around in my head about what to do with it. Gtr Box and leave it 4wd or maybe even just leave it Auto. Spent a bit of time on Skyline owners and on The aussie's skyline owners and seen a few of them had done a conversion with the Rb25 box and got the front diff removed and the sump welded up. DING DING perfect for me Next step was to find somewhere to start tackiling all the work involved so myself and TBK found a shed big enough for both of us to work on our cars.

Pic's of the Stagea going into her new home for a while:

Ok so first things first now that its safely tucked away was to start stripping her down as i wanted to get the engine out so i could freshen everything up and get the gammy auto box and torque converter off. I'll let the pictures do the talking.....

Most parts from the engine have been removed now ie aircon, altinator, starting motor,Rads and so on...only thing ledt is to drop off the bottom wish bones and try and remove the front drive shafts as once these are removed i can get the engine out and the sump off and get it down to Joe in Custom metal works so he can remove the diff and weld her up.

Next up was to remove the gearbox and half shafts and remove the dreaded torque converter. Big thanks to Tutty as he's the one that got the auto box and front shaft off. only have finished pic's of this so....

The above pic is of the auto spigot bearing that i somehow have to get out so i can replace with a manual one.

next step is the interior: Removed the front seats so i could get at the centre console as i've to cut the hole out for the gearstick to come through.
and also to get in at the pedal hand brake and release cables

And a pic of where i've to get the master cylinder through to conect up with the clutch pedal.

I'm in no rush to get this done as i'm enjoying the time i'm spending on it and i want to get it to come out just right. As this car is so rare still over here i can honestly say it will be staying around for quiet some time as there's endless possibilitys and upgrades for it no matter which way it goes.

The only problem i found on it so far while doing the work is a bit of the plauge under the wing mirrors but it's only the outter skin so it can be cut and welded

    25/Aug/2011 Update

ok so small update on te work thats been getting done

First up is that the engine is out and now have an empty bay

Next up was to remove the Diff and sump so i can cart it off to the fabricaters to ge it modded so she be RWD
