Be careful as to what type switch your using. If your using a standard battery isolator switch when turned off while engine is running will cause a voltage spike and could cause harm your alternator and other electronics in the car like engine ecu etc.

Get a motorsport type switch which has 4 spade connections on the bottom aswel as your main battery connections. They come supplied with a resistor and a wiring diagram,you'll need this switch if its a competition spec car and for obvious electrical safety reasons...
