Promised my sister I'd ask on here but she bought an 03 audi a6 1.9tdi automatic. The car has started kicking into gear, and as a result the gearbox needs to be replaced and the mechanic wants to recondition the gearbox.
Does anyone know whether it is possible to do a manual conversion on the car? Looking for some advice on what to do!

Should'nt be any reason you could'nt convert it, be far easier just to get a gearbox thats already been reconditioned?

It was reconditioned before and they spent over 2grand on it and the car is jumpin into gear and ruined all the links so it needs to be done again after 18months! So thats why I was asking about converting it to manual, to cut out the kick into gear!

Yeah think thats what she wants to do, go for a second hand one. The help would be appreciated man! But no point going for another gearbox yet until someone knows why its jumpin into gear as soon as you touch the accelerator first. manual conversion is possible but it would be cheaper to get the box re coned i would think Originally Posted by Dave
