Is the 1.5" part the length of the stud? and if so is it from base of stud or from hub?

M12 is the outer diameter and the 1.5 is the pitch of the thread

Do you know the overall length of the stud???? I read somewhere on the net it was 42mm but I dont know if that's right?????
