Default gauging interest; part worn tyres

At mondello last weekend i burnt 6 sets of new tyres at €50 a pop. that is a very expensive day. so i went looking for a cheeper alternative and found some part worn wholesale places, the tyres are quality checked and are mainly from germany, where tyre laws are stricter. they have minimum depth of 4mm and come in a range of brands and sizes. The prices differ on size and brand but start at about €12-14 up to about 20-25 for 16/17'' tyres.

the only draw back is you have to be in the trade to order which i am, but most minimum orders are 100 tyres. now ill burn alot but have no use for 100 tyres. so......

would other people here have any interest in part worn tyres for practicing?
im not arsed about profit on these, im not doing it for that, i see it as a cheeper way to do what we do. and i just need 20-30 tyres myself.

also, ive only used new tyres for drifting, are part worns worth their salt?
i was getting a session and a half out a new set, so id have to get 1 session out of 4mm of thread? penny for your thaughts.

Iv tought about this and iv also tried both.....! In my eyes maybe on a stock yoke it might be o.k....! But in a car with a bit of power it'l just eat them up....!

I always run brand new tyres....! I fing it a waste of time otherwise....! If your cars set up right and even tyre wear brand new is the way to go....! Might be 50 quid a tyre but at least you know exactly what your getting and won't peel if u know which tyre to go for......! Plus 8mm of thread.....! Now this is just my opinion....!

Loads of lads running pretty stock yokes and not every 1 can afford new tyres so in reality i think you could be on to something here and shouldn't have a problem doing this....! Good idea...!

I'd definitely be interested in stock piling a few Ro, the Silvia eat through partworns in Mondello and I most definitely haven't got the funds to buy new tyres.

For standard power you cannot beat part worns i my opinion, the ones I find last longest are the shitty hard ones that have been lying in the garden baking in the sun, delish!

I used 6 part worns in mondello the last day, made smoke and was out a heap of times cos I was out on any group at the end!

yeah my skyline is stock like petes.

@pete, feck, you got off lightly, they must have been super hard tyres. 6 tyres in the whole day! i was running federals 595, great tyre, great grip, about 240 thread i think, but didnt last that long? maybee for comps, but a bit hard on the pocket for practice.

if people were interested, whats the common sizes? 16/17/18 ??
