info on part

hey lads, just wondering does any 1 no where this part goes on a 14a engine? and what purpose it serves? i was told it has something got to do wit the alternator but im not sure

dont really know tbh. it looks like it earths off somewhere by the bracket on the black box and the other wire goes to a power but i could be completly wrong. dont wanna put it in the wrong place anyway

that wire comming from it looks to be an erath strap lad, is thier any pins comming out of it dnt look 2 be from the pics, condensor!! open to correction

No pins its just a sealed little box. I dunno why it would just be connected to an earth ya no. Has any 1 seen these on their car before

I had this very same problem after i rebuilt the engine in my last s14a, had that part left an didnt know where it went! asked a lot of people, and looked at various sr20 engines and couldnt find out where it went, so i just left it out and it ran fine.

I think its something to do with earthing the alternator so it wont interfere with the radio

its a suppressor it goes on the altinator to stop interferance with radio waves, have you any strange noises from ur spekers?

^^^^ yep and the goes on to the live feed on the altenator and Is earthed through it's own bracket

I havent fitted it yet gem its a new engine goin into a shell so I wanted to get it right. Thanks for the help thats Another problem outta the way
