takata must make seatbelts for loads of ordinary road cars do they ? jus seen the other day the belts in the back of my car are made by takata ...

They make all the oem seatbelts for toyota. As for the cost, like subzero said they are approved, they also have a few million r&d behind them. You get what you pay for at the end of the day.
