    I disagree with the above. I map hundreds of early high inlet port early Sr20EDT engines and if they have too much blow by the normally have broken ring lands. If the engine has loads of blow by its normally wanked. If the breather is not blocked totally the dip stick should not move.

    The only way to vacume the crank case is with a dry sump system with large enough scavenge to overcome the oil and std blow by.

    have you ever mapped one vented to atmosphere then changed it to a vacume breather system and saw the difference?

    im not claiming to know everything all im saying is that this is tried and tested on two cars i know, one being mine, nothing except the breathing system was modified and both went from filling catch tanks in a few laps to not even a little going into the tanks. (should mention both cars have reciently had forged pistons and rods etc so damage inside is highly unlikely)

    yes i agree the dip stick coming out is the most extreem and will only occur when the breathers are blocked or as you say internal problems

    the main issue with the non vvt is that the block breather doesnt route seperated oil from vapour back to the sump

    dry sump is the ideal, or running an external vacume pump but using the intake or exhause to create a vacume is enough to notice a difference from breathing to the atmos. its the route the oil vapour takes to get out of the engine wilst seperating oil is the secrete to the system

    Do a cylinder leak down test first, if your engine does have a piston problem which it is 9 times out of 10, you will just do more damage and it's not worth it for the sake of doing a simple test,,

    I am interested to know how you created a vacume in the crank case when the engine is on boost.

    i think i may have solved it i drilled a few holes, in the metal piece on the inside of the rocker cover to allow more venting into the breather pipe,

    if the ring was broken would the engine not be very smokey all the time?

    will there not be a vacume on the intake side of the turbo seen as its drawing air?

    All you have done is masked the problem.

    Nissan engines dont smoke at all with broken ring lands.

    you realy do need to do a leak down test lad as robbie said they dont be smokey when they are gone iv had a few sr's here with a big enough holes in the side of the piston you could get your finger down beside it and they dont even be that smokey

    Could it not just possibly been that? Seen as it was doing the same wen that rocker cover was on my bros engine? Yeah i will do the leak down , but she is going to mondello saturday weather she likes it or not

    Its quite simple.

    You have asked for advice.

    We have given advice based on a huge amount of knowledge of the engines in question.

    Many others with experience have agreed.

    If you want to ignore the advice by all meas do.
