just read through the whole build. . some amount of work gone into the car! its like a brand new car. fair play for doing things right, any ideas when we will see the complete car? hate waiting..
holy fuck, the level of work thats gone into this is just unbelievable, such an awesome car,
will we see it this weekend mike?
massive respect to all the lads who have put so much work into it,
and mike............. ya must have seriously deep pockets!!!
Sound again lads, heart and soul going into this, great to have the support of friends and drifting fans and of course the best shop and mechanic in the world. Im also glad about the wet comments, I'd hate to be involved in something which didn't descend to absolute filth at some stage!
Cheers dude, hopefully this weekend!
Thanks again. Its after frightening me how much work has gone into it as its our first car building from the ground up. Time means nothing. A job you think will take an hour takes two hours, a day takes two days etc.
My thoughts on the lads are at the start of the next thread. What a gang of legends.
And I dont have deep pockets lad, far from it in fact, but I have great sponsors who I worked hard to get and who I continue to work hard for, to whom I am eternally grateful, because without them, there is no drifting for me. I also broke almost every penny of what was left of the Sileighty into this
and I basically sacrifice my everyday life in order to drift at the top level and to build this car. Its what I do. Yeah times are tough but you only live once, so you might as well live.
Dedacation ftw.....! Well done on everythiing lad.....! Credit to u and the team behind u....!
Its five to two on the Wednesday night before Punchestown. Im sitting writing this in the shop at MCNSport while the boys continue to work on the car next door in the garage. I doing just about the only thing I'm any use at at this stage, and after what seems like weeks and weeks of getting up early and going to bed late with nothing in between but working on the car, organising stuff for the car of driving somewhere for stuff for the car, we are all pretty wrecked.
The song 'I Need Air' that Cazeli used in his Mondello vid from last year just came on the radio outside. Darren just came in, looking for the wiring loom that was used in the RE86, which was the car that my new engine last lived in. Fresh from his third place in Formula D round 3 in Miami last weekend, he might have an advantage on the rest of us sleep wise maybe, if hes still five hours behind?
Ok, Im too tired to write anything with any thought in it, so as they work and have a laugh outside at ten past two, heres the low down on the boys, with a big 'thanks to' before each ones name:
Darren for his endless supply of knowledge and know how and his insistence of doing everything correctly. His overseeing of the project has led to it taking the shape you see in this thread. Im humbled to have such a well built car to drive and Im looking forward to developing it with him. He is one of the best drifters in the world and I can only hope that a bit of his talent and drive will rub off on me. If it does I will be all the better driver for it and I wish him all the best on his way to the Formula D championship. Happy Darren for his fabrication and mechanical skills and his ability to eye up a problem, think for 5 seconds, and come up with and execute the perfect solution there and then. His work on the Need For Speed car speaks for itself and im very grateful to have a man of his ability working on my drift car. The man is also a saint. And the team mechanic Holly, whom I have been friends with with 14 years and have traveled many miles with on bikes over the years, but who only came on the drifting scene last year and fell into place like a missing piece of a puzzle on our team. Without Holly this car would not be where it is today. He is the do-er of the team, while I would be thinking about something Hol would have it done. When my hand was broke I drove him down every day and he worked and worked while I could only look on. The man is an absolute legend and this car is as much his as it is mine. He has now inherited my drag race bike, an RD350 LC2 powervalve which has the nuts tuned off its two stroke engine. We are going to restore and rebuild it at our ease once we have finished the FC and I'm going to enjoy helping him build it as he has helped me build my drift car. Im also going to enjoy watching him at the line before he goes on to beat another modern 600cc sports bike with his little 350 screamer! I need to individually thank a LOT of other people, but all in good time!
ALso this week the courier delivered the kit in BITS, all broken from a lack of care while handling. Thanks to the ever patient Dan Hegarty for repairing everything, which took a good day, only to apply the sweet shade of red to get a reaction in the paint. We rubbed it all down, Dan applied another coat, only for the same thing to happen. The problem was traced to bad paint from the motor factors. As if time wasnt short enough! Well we gotta soldier on! All these pics were taken tonight.
