    Default Stripping Diff Question

    I want to get a good look at the weld on 180sx diff. I have got as far taking the axels out on either side. Is that all I need to do, does she just slide out with a bit of tlc??

    do you want to remove the diff out of the casing altogether?
    if you remove it all the way you know that it will have to be set up when you put it back in.

    Is the diff still in,Ya can disconnect the shafts and take the backing plate off for a look if that's what ya mean, no TLC required

    Yeh the diff is still in the casing. I was sort of following this guys way http://zilvia.net/f/archive-faqs/148...-approved.html
    I've got to as far as step 3.. so have the axels/ shafts out. I can't see anyway of getting into the spider gears?

    Basically, I wana get in and have a look at the welds. Might need to ad a bit more, don't want it breaking on Sunday out in Mondello on the first run

    u hav to take off the bearing race caps ether side and it all pulls out.. they will be shims ether side with the bearings make sure the exact same ones go back in the same as they came out otherwise the back lash and preload wil be wrong and it wont last long...
