    Default what to do....

well lads, looks like i will get the chaser back off the insurance as scrap..
so im weighing up my options at the moment. not sure if i could be arsed with the 2.5 tax now, plus im losing half my no claims bonus (2 years) so im guessing insurance is gonna rape me if i get anything decent. but im still open to ideas. i dont wanna spend a fortune on a build, but the following has been on my mind. have been offered a MINT fc shell, lad does his own rebuilds ect on rotary yokes, so i could:
put my 1jz in in the fc shell...have seen this done a few times on youtube but would probably end up costing a fortune?
or this lad will sell me a recently rebuilt 13b with decent spec, ported etc.

or, if i wanted i could put the 1zj into an s body, anyone ever seen the s13 with the 1jz running gear, has the jzx100 dash and clocks and all, its a minter.

but as i said earlier i dunno if i could be arsed with the 2.5 tax and that anymore, its 50/50. i could sell the chaser as is maybe..

just lookin for realistic opinions, if i was to go doin a conversion, would it cost me a fortune?

who would be ebst to talk to about it, maybe they'll see this thread.

gem seems to be everyones favourite do it all person!!

How much are you likely to be paying for the Chaser?

RX7 book tax is 1.7 and s body will be 2.0, your hardly going to pay the 2.5 tax if it was a conversion would ya? What ever about insuring it properly but I wouldnt give a shit about the tax. There are ready made kits/mounts available for them cars to bold the JZ in, if your handy at this sort of work get a few mates round and you should get it done cheap enough but there is so many little niggly bits you need to get in engine conversions you dont really know until you come up against a problem, them little things dont be long turning in to thousands €€. Make sure you do your homework on which would be the easier to tranplant into and with the least work/money, TBH if its going to be a daily car I wouldnt take the rotary, I myself love the engines I nearly bought an FD a few times before the bubble burst but I couldnt bring myself to hand over money, the engine just scared the shit out of me, Rotary heads will come on and defend them now but with good reason because there savage little engines but the facts dont lie, I'm a member on Irish roatary (havent been on it in a while now) but when I was doing the research the amount of rebuild treads was scary, nearly every donedeal add has wrote on it "rebuild" so I came to the conclusion at some stage of ownership I was porbably going to have to rebuild which was 2.5k gone from the pocket just like that, so I said fuck it, just keep in mind when considering the rotary.

i aint handy at this sort of sh1t to be honest, would probably be paying someone else to do it. what about taking the fc shell and putting an sr20det into it. would be easier id imagine than the 1jz. and better weight ratios too.

or i could take this freshly built 13b and drive it till it goes (could be eyars) then put something else in it.

its not a daily, my cbr250 is my daily.

I tink if you drove a fc with a 13b in it you wouldnt consider putting in any other enigine,i picked a fc up at the weekend and was shocked at the power delivery plenty of power through out the rev range, there a realy realy small car i think the 1j would be to heavy for it and i wouldnt even consider puttin a sr20 into becuase it wouldn be the same car,a 13b thats looked after ie, mineral oil correct plugs 7,s and 9,s etc etc will last, even a rebuild on a 13b these days is cheap
as for puttin a 1j into a s body that would work but there is a load of s bodys everywhere dont tink a 1j would make it standout realy

I don't think any insurance company in the land will insure a converted car especially if you're upping the engine size by so much.

Make your money breaking it or selling it and get yourself something built and ready to rock.
