No haveing it sat for a while shouldnt cause that, was it running fine the last time you started it?what work have you done to it since...it does sound like a vacum pipe, air in the system or maybe a airflow meter issue....?if it was running fine before and you havent been working on it,then obviosuly there cant be vacum pipe disconnected, could be a split pipe,is the cooling system bleed?
Thats the craic she said with one leg on the dash and nothing on but the radio............
Bleed the cooling system, its prob the handiest to do at the moment without another AFM.
Is there water running through the top right hose going from the rad to the block. Giv it a squeeze... if theres nothing running through and you have coolant u'll need to get the thermostat to open and let everything thru. Jump in the car and flick on the fans with a bit of heat, also pop off the radiator cap (careful shes not silly hot, burn urself) and have a look at the level in the rad.
u mite hav a boost leak threw the dump vavle mabe somethin else to look at.. mine runs like dis wen i blow of pipes![]()
Have you checked the idle control valve? I had the exact same problem on my rx idling between 1k AND 1.5k so i brought into eddie doyle and he told me to adjust the idle control valve, located on the throttle body elbow on my rx7. twist the screw in all the way and then screw out 1 & 1/2 turns and then check, if problem persists, screw out another 1/4 to a 1/2 turn....
This worked for me!!!!
Is the car not idling on its own with no throttle at all from 1.5K to 2K and back to 1.5K etc, etc...Thats what it sounds like anyway! Adjusting this idle control valve will set the idle back steady and it will stop hunting on its own, well should do anyway, correct me if im wrong but this was my experience and it worked for me. That was 2 days ago and it hasnt happened since....maybe i got lucky![]()
has the car been parked outside or in a garage???
