Default Battery losing charge and afm problem r32

    91 r32 liner gtst

Just wondering if these problem are related. My air flow meter started acting up, woudln't go over 2500 rpm, drinkin petrol, smokin (black) like a bitch. Then the battery started losing charge all of a sudden. It goes completely dead after a few hours of being parked. Also, hicas light is displayed now and again. I've heard that a dodgy alternator could be the cause of all my problems?
    Could this be true?
If not what else could it be?
Have any other r32 owners had these problems before?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.

    Andrew.

did you test to see if you have a charge when the car is running or a draw when it is turned off

I'll have to check the charge when running but defo no obvious draw when turned off? It has been grand since i got it but just happened all of a sudden? I've heard on other forums that the hicas light coming on is related to a dodgey alternator? On a different note does anyone know if the afm's on these are tempermental? Seems like it's a dodgy connection but it's different symptoms everytime i fiddle with it?

put a volt meter on it and see if your getting `13.7v or more.

coils and afm give problems all the time

If you think the AFM is dodgy whip it off and clean it with carb cleaner or similar. They can be tempermental.

Defo the alternator anyway didn't charge at all for me today the bitch n it's a new battery.
As for the afm, it's tickin over all bolloxy now and blowin serious black smoke but once the revs come up the smoke clears but she wont go over 2500rpm n the "sizzling frying pan" light flickers on and off???
