    Default compression test??

    going doing a compression test on my engine just wondering what reading should i be expecting to get??? its a redtop sr20det

    If things are healthy and as they should be, you should be getting between 160 - 145 , anything lower is weak, if you end up with 3 high and one low then that cylinder is not fireing right

    when you say not firing rite what would you mean??

    As in if one cylinder is down, then your engine is not running rite

    For example, if you got a reading of 155,155,150,155

    That would be perfect, they can be a few psi off each other, wont make any difference

    or if you got 155,150, 60, 155

    You know that cylinder 3 is your problem

    The psi its self isnt as important as all the cylinders bein in and around the same

    compression test shows only compression, not firing engine doesnt fire when you do a test.... what it would indicate is either valves or piston rings....

    Thats what i meant, fireing was just my choice of words, i didnt actually meaning fireing!

    Yes any more than a 1 bar difference between cylinders and i would be getting worried and make sure to hold the throttle open when cranking cause if you don't you won't get a correct reading.
