Beyond extra lock

Just thought Id throw this up here again..............

I started looking into extra (extara extra) steering lock and on the DW site I found a load of stuff about it. It started off with people on about steering knuckle mods that were a DIY solution.............

It went along the lines of chopping the part of the hub where the steering rod attached to, taken an inch or so out and rewelding it as in the picture


Now the only thing that was wrong with this was that the ACHERMAN angle could and was getting messed up........like this

The trailing wheel and leading wheel angles are completly out

Now I had'nt a clue what acherman was either so this will help explain it

Now in japan they've been (D1 driver) developing hubs that have the steering knuckle position slightly altered. This works really well but they are pretty expensive.............so another bunch there developed the following kit that I reckon could be DIYed at home or even bought as they're cheap enough.





55 degrees of lock there



Static angle as measured on shop guage from center to lock :
MAX Super angle kit = 1.25 turns & 52 degrees
OEM = 1.5 turns and 36 degrees

no word yet but i say in the next 3weeks and the price wont be let known till they are ready!! these will sell out as soon as they come out so keep an eye on driftworks..

ive done these mods a couple times. can be tricky to get right, kinda have to know what your at. makes for savage lock though.

my 86 with the s13 lca and hub, supra tie rod, on a manual rack.
