    cud be intercooler??? happened to a friend of mine with his golf! the sensor on it was fuked and it went into safety sort of mode and no go

    well if it hapens and u turn on and off the key its ur boost soleniod vw are murder for that hve a 99 passat here doing the same thing they over boost and wen u turn on and off the key it resets it, normall hapens around 80mph i though

    boost sol or vanes on turbo could be clogged!
    leave yer A/F meter alone

    Ben Hachi on here works for ford,

    i had trouble with one of those before, check all vacum pipes, hoses around the manifold first.... if theres no errors on the dash 9/10 its not a sensor, but sometimes it can be a sensor and no warning lights come on

    i also work for ford and their will be no light show if its the boost solenoid or the map sensor

    it sounds like limp mode alright. and it could be ANYTHING thats causing it.
    the mothers car drove perfectly, but when it rained heavily, it would chug a bit and put itself into limp mode limiting the revs to about 3. and no matter what, wouldnt go above that, even dropping from 5th to 3rd wouldnt do it.

    in my case it was the wiring going to the crank senor getting wet and tripping a crank sensor fault. leave it running to dry out and it would start up fine again.
    quick blast of water and she'd die again.

    diagnostics is the only way you are going to find the issue.

    Cheers for all the replys lads!! Got it sorted the pipe from the back of the air filter box came off, no fookin clip on it the missus done a gud job describing what was wrong lol
