ive been thinking dat prodrift should be using sumting alot softer around the edges of the tracks like in mondello where they use foam bales because alot of us ar taking very expensive smacks off those metal barriers dat theyve been using! is there a reason why they arent using anything softer????
id say its for insurance reasons,and to keep the crowd safe,wouldn`t thrust a foam bale to protect me from a car slidding towards me,and another guess would be due to the size of the foam bales in mondello it would kill the show as people wouldn`t be able to see much,now im only guessin i could be wrong,but id say its definitly crowd saftey

Safety primarily. Cars are going very fast and would easily move a bale, so unless they pushed the crowd line back miiiiles I couldnt see them using softer stuff. A wall of tyres the whole way along the barrier is what has to be done if they want to use citywest again, thats coming from the event management on the citywest side.

but all they need to do is put some kind of covering on them even bin liners would stop the wet getting at them like there was easily 20 grand worth of damage done in city west alone and if prodrift dont do something about it soon they are going to lose drivers!! im 16 and the only thing keeping this going for me is my job which i only have part time and im running out of money FAST and i say there are alot of other drivers like myself who are struggling to keep it up so when you damage your car it makes it very very difficult :(:(Quote:

Agree wit the drivers hundred per cent.. Its a risk ya gotta take if ya don't wanna risk damagin the car stay at home.. From a spectator point of view the wall makes this so so excitin I roared my head off yesterday when lads ran the wall its amazin to watch as a spectator.. Its due to the walls that I class mondello the most borin round in the prodrift schedule..
no see thats not right like im only an amateur and ive only been in punchestown and citywest and both of those times my yoke took a bad smack so im definitly not afraid of damaging the car im just afraid about having the money to repair it afterwards i love the sport and i cant wait for the next time i get the chance to be on the track i just wish there wasnt the problem for young lads like myself of possibly writing off the car :pQuote:

Prodrift is one of the top championships in Europe! If u can't run the top tracks practice harder in Mondello or somewhere where you can't damage the car, and get better, then come out and run the Walls!Quote:

In practice Friday I just wasnt getting the course so the first time the start line was moved back I came in WAAAY too fast, spun, and hit the wall backwards really hard, breaking the bolts which held down the wall and held the sections together and moving the wall 2 feet. I'm lucky my car isnt wrote off, and to be honest at the moment I wouldnt have the bobs to build another at short notice.
But with a bit of pulling we got it driving again and got straight back out, and on the very next run I ran close to my own paint on the wall. I nearly cacked my suit! And every time I came close to the wall all weekend on the entry, it scared the fcuk outta me, but when you get past it, it's the best feeling in the world (well, almost :p)
And I agree with Darragh, it's things like this that make the Irish drifters what we are ;)

Head to the likes of stones and tullow for seat time, worst damage in stones is bumpers and the likes.. Em theres walls in tullow and your attracted to them :p
All drifters in PD pay for there own cars/mods as dan and nigel said already, having seen the damage done, and seeing first hand the time money effort the justjap lads have spent on there builds id brick it with the barriers if id a sweet car!!! Fair play to all the lads competeing yiz have no fear big big respect to all of you's mad fookers :cool:
i think the walls should stay for safety and to seperate the men from the boys!
yes ok there was alot of cars damages! those tyres took away from the shunt! but its motorsport ! u eitheir get the balls to do it and just dont! simple as that!

We have to deal with what we have here in Ireland.So if your afraid of damaging your car,buy an rc one.Its cheaper to re-shell them.
