Lookin at buyin a 92 318is M3....will it drift?!:D

right. Havent seen it myslef, jus got a call to stick a thread up here cs a pair a lads I know are out lookin at it...
...he reckons its a proper M...full leather inside nd all the M badges on the interior too....anythin in particular they should b lookin for??
so a 1992 318....will it drift?:P its jus there a fella we know with a 318 nd he said its got a traction control / stability system jobby so he cant drift that...
Links????
A 318 aint an M unless sumone switched the engine box into it, sounds dodge..
dont have a link cs they found it by accident out at a breakers yard.
Right lads sound for all the replies:D
I had an 318iS. Will slide in the wet, and probably in the dry with enough balls. Standard diff will probably try kill you though
i just want it for a bit of fun. weld it up and put it around a slab
Man the M in questions on the 318is could just be the usual interior and styling change doing nothing to the power of the car itself. A few years ago I had a 318is for messing briefly, In the wet you may have some hope but in general you will just be chasing your tail in circles as your only form of fun. In saying that the diff would need a good weld first. This is just in my opinion.
what ya mean boil up
Ever hear people referring to BMW's as kettles? They have a serious habit of over heating. I have seen people take the termostat out and wire the fan but not sure how it worked out.
I don't reckon you should do it,
they are slow n heavy compared to other cars,
I'd say you'd have to be seriously brave on the wand to drift her nicely
fair bit of skill if ye can drift her though.....
i had a 316i would like slide in the wet and that was it my mate had a 318is with coilovers supercharger lightened flywheel not sure what else was still only 200bhp and had a two way diff and was stiff very hard to get it sliding they are heavy and only 148bhp standard all those m badges mean nothing on it wouldnt buy it myself
Your best bet is getting at least a 320i
Iv a 318is chipped, lowerd, and a 4.10 lsd, running on 17 inch alpinas...pulling out around 150bhp ...will slide no bother in the wet with the big wheels and no problems when dry with the 15's on. never had any trouble with her boiling but have an electric fan out of a gud old festie fitted:D
Does that "M" on the dash and the seats not mean MEGA FAST???
get the tea bags coz thers a great chance that babys goingta boil :D
Go the extra little bit and get a 320i if your starting! Dunno what the power differece is but 318 is only 4cylinder! 6cylinder all the way!
That car has never let me down and to be honest it has gotten nothing but abuse
And don't mind them saying it will boil, any car has a chance of boiling if you don't have it right! Watch the Coolant and change oil after every day out and I recon not a problem!
6 cylinder is a lot more reliable alright. THe 320 is 150bhp, and will slide with a welded diff, but its hard work.
I have owned various 320's in the past and had good fun with them, but as a couple of lads said above - keep an eye on the temp needle!
318is would be a waste of money imo, even if you got it for peanuts she would overheat very quickly and would then cost you to get rid of her
If you were serious about it, get an electric fan or two :D
yeah me cousin hada 318 b4 it id go more sideways in my 1ltr corsa than that yoke! it was dead out!
Grand for sliding in the wet.
Try slide it in the dry and you will brake the pissy little diff.Thats talking from experience. On my 3rd now.
