Broken manifold studs rb25

has anyone ever had manifold studs break in the block on an rb? iv tried stud removers but no joy, anyone had this problem? help!:(

Are you any good with a stick welder, weld the bolt and built it up, then once its out pass the head weld a nut over it, and slowly turn it out with a spanner. The weld will only build up on the stud as the head is aluminum but you can only weld for a short amount of time at a time.

was thinkin of doing that but wasnt sure, so if i kinda fill it in wit weld then weld a nut to the mound of weld, what do u mean about only welding for a short amount of time???

You build it up by welding for only a few seconds at a time, so you don't heat the head too much. Its common on RB, had to do it to the RB26 + RB25. 26s are worse smaller studs!

the stud arent flush with the head, there in a good bit

Found a guide on how to do it without welding but not sure if it works too good,

The welding method does work, and if you are going to do it, be careful. Just weld the centre of the stud, dont fill it completely, and gradually build up the weld. you might have to try it a few times, as the weld might break. And I hope they are all not at the back of the engine next to the bulkhead, as space is tight :-( Best of luck

tried that option, no hope, welding is my only choise id say

ya prob should have heated them first, messy job man. what if ya heated the studs and use a vice grips and use all your strenght and tightin it to the last! that weldin one is a good idea

the studs are in deep, wouldnt be able to grab them

bolox to that man:mad: its a pity ya cant get a tap that would tap in the opposite direction so ya could then put a bolt in where ya tapped and losen it! id prob go the drillin out route and retappin, startin of with a pilot drill bit then getting bigger

easy outs! they arent worth a fuck most the time.

same thing happened to me on the sr couldn get it out so had to take head off an get it milled out
