at goldstone DI day out way mid drift "ish" and gave the clutch a bit of kick and n releasing it the car gave the mother of all bangs which left me rolling to a stop in the middle of the track. now i have no drive at all.:confused: heres a vid to show whats happening from inside the car when i change gears. all stationary by the way. engine and box are sr20det.

thats strange its a head scratcher...id be thinkin bearins or input shaft failure but wouldn be too sure cos dont no much bout gearboxes

is youre clutch a sprung plate type or solid (the solid ones bieing harder on the allready fragile sr box)
just gave a look on youre build thread and there is no pic of the new clutch taken apart

clutch is an OS Giken twin plate sprung type. the isnt harsh at all it drives/takes off like a standard clutch but can hold uber power. its not the input shaft cause the gears are turning hence the grinding demo and the speed sensor reading that its turning
Ya should get under it and check if the drive shaft is turning when your in gear. Looks to me like the diff is after shitting its self. If its not that then youl be throwing that gear box away!

thats wierd actually, just watched that vid again.
i was starting to think that the diff was the problem like allready said.
but if that was the problem would the car go in and out of gear like it does in the vid without the clutch ( i suppose it would it the diff was fuked)
looking at the speedo in all the gears it looks like its reading fine and gbox working fine nd all, but speedo reading 25mph while in neutral is strange
this may not help one bit but this is a SR/CA box, looking at it can you think of anything that could have broke to cause it.

the diff could have smashed to bits along with second
when i get under it I'll be able to check that out and see if the prop shaft is turning. but i think its something before that as the speedo is reading around 20km/h in neutral. the weight an turning force needed to turn the shaft would hold the speed at o km/h in neutralQuote:

its odd like for example jay on here has gone through many sr boxes, he alwas blows 5th and that takes reverse with it when it goes. 5th and reverse share a shaft but a different shaft to any other gears.so if 2nd is gone surely that means i should at least have 5th and reverse???????
it wil read a speed in neutral, and second is the nearst gear to the running speed on tick over that is why you can get it with out grinding if you bring up the revs a small bit leave it reving for a sec then you will get 3rd with out grinding, id say personally its either your diff, prop shaft or output shaft from the box, i was standing right on the corner when she let go was a good oul bang

right so iv just been out investigating a bit more and what gem-s13 suggested was right. when i give it a bit more revs and try to see if i can get 2nd to grind(purely to see if its still there). it will grind so 2nd gear is still intact after all:D. got a look under the car and the prop shaft isn't moving so im guessing what danmoorhead said that the output shaft has broken/snapped.:eek:
next question is, is this a part/shaft that can be just replaced or whats the story there? like is there loads of stuff attached or just pop it out and pop in another one???
gearbox out and rebuild it i have an output shaft here if you wanted to rebuild your box on to it, but it would work out dear to get someone to do it for you it will prob be cheaper just to buy another box and fire it in, give frankae86 a pm he had a very good sr box for small money,Quote:

man have good boxs up here and damaged ones with the bits you need,,
I'v a few output shafts here too shane if ya want to rebuild it!
