rising sun legends down in cork or JDMAuctionWatch.
just to make sure ur aware of the new vrt crap thats going on. beware of the vrt ;)
beware buying from trade car view !!! lots and lots of lads have gotten caught by it .
use Richie at japan cars ireland ... can be got on facebook . years of experience and very trustworthy.
I wouldn't bother importing fresh from Japan.
Get a car already vrt'd.
Although I'd highly recommend Richie too if you definitely want to import
What's the new VRT craic????
wouldnt recommend importing myself from recent experience, bought r34 skyline in jan got it in may
loads of bother with VRT, country is a joke
had more bother before the car arrived then i had here, but thats here nor there.
Id just seriously recommend looking into who you use if you are serious about importing.
Richie @Japan cars ireland + Patrick @JDM auction watch - both seem to be the best
Your car had an RB26 so was bound to cause some hassle.
there was no bother for people before bringing in rb26 conversions. friends of mine have had bother with vrt too, upping the prices etc.
they messed me about alot requesting engineers reports, questions&answers pop quizzes over the phone and started requesting pics of parts etc.
anyway the point i was making was not just about vrt ;)
obviously wasnt the 1st rb26 conversion car in the country either!!!!!!!
i wont be looking to vrt it lads but thanks for the heads up.Will have alook at those two lads websites typically how much has transportation to Dublin Port cost people ?
My customs & excise was €1523
Shipping was €900
MCC customs brokers was €220 I think
Purchase price of car was €3400.
Been hearing a lot of horror stories lately. Imported an R33 GTR myself at the start of the year and had a nice quote of the website. But when it landed system had changed. Cant get a quote now in person as engine is out of car (trust me I tried). What sort of quotes are people are getting for Skylines? Also was told that its .1% of VRT extra every day exceeding 30 days of import. Is this true?
Thats not true.
My VRT price for my 1990 r32 was €1710.
I paid it on day 33, so 3 days late and there was a €56 late penalty.
I dont know what percentage that is, but it's definitely not 0.1%
seems about right to me. 56euro is 0.327% of 1710euro. roughly 3 days worth of penalties.
was in the vrt office today , its a joke of a system now . anything old (so anything wed be after from japan ) are mostly blocked now so they want to see the car , take note of all mods/stuff the can charge extra for and then give you a custom quote .
anyways we brought in a ps13 , luckily it isnt blocked (yet) so was kinda straight forward , checked the car had all the seats, chassis number, checked if the car went into gear and started and ran ok .
then he gave back the documents and said youll get a call in 2 days with the vrt amount ... some dose . (someone on some site was saying they had the docs kept on them , which was a balls so they couldnt sell it on to the uk if they didnt like the quote)
ive heard about your experience jdmep3s and im shocked you havnt spoke out about it , but thats your own business , feel sorry for ya dude.
