Any more pics or info lad ?
I've bust two rotaries now, and although the single turbo was great for drag racing, it was a bit laggy for the drifting, so i'm going v8
haha class! what v8 is that?
I'm putting an eaton M122 supercharger on her, I modified the original inlet manifold in order to mount the supecharger on it as well as directing the air to the intercooler and then back into the manifold

i cut the underside of the manifold to join all the ports an create an inlet

i blocked off the upper part of the manifold[IMG]
http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y...t/SAM_0474.jpg[/IMG]
clatty i know, but it was my first bit of tig welding!
Looks like a really cool project man, hurry up and finish it. :afro:
i need to get some more aluminium pipe to finish the manifold but with the pipes set in place and with the help of the handlamp to hold it together it looks like this,,
aye lad i need to get a move on! bishopscourt on the 4th dec!!
Its a toyota 1uzfe taken from a toyota celsior,
they only come automatic so its a real hanlon converting her, should be worth it though
Drifting needs more FD3S's, sexiest body by far...
Savage Cant wait to hear her screaming around the track....
i can't wait to hear it, she sounded well n/a without the filter lol

lad no offence but that engine is sitting all up front,,,, she won"t handle rite,,,, i"ve just built an sr rx and cut the fire wall out to fit it properly on existing FD mounts the sub frame everything had to be custom made,,, just so she will handle rite and i was testing last week and its like a go kart on track i love it,,,, have a look in build tread SRX the heading,,,,,, i"m a big fan of V8 myself and if the SR ever blows up i"ll fit one seen as all the fabrication is done on the body,,,,,best of luck with it,,,,
not my thing but it will sound insane so cant wait to see it in action
Yeah love these rx7s.. deffo the biz and with a V8 she'll be a corker if balanced well.. can't wait til see (and hear) her out on da track
Best o luck with her phil
got another bit done today, i have the inlet manifold finished now,
aye ken ya have a point, but i've kept the engine back as far as possible,
i'll just have to wait an see what the balance is like.
the 1uz is only slightly heavier than an sr20det
cheers pete, are ya going to bishopscourt on the 4th, i'm hopin to have this finished for it
doubt it phil, just got my yoke goin again last weekend
looks like it'll be 2012 B4 I get out next
Good progress Phillip !! Nice to be thinking out of the box, pity the rotary is such a pain in the ass of an engine, they sound unreal.................... when they stay going!! No more problems that way for you;)
phil when will i bring up the battery to start her up?
cant wait to see this finished
the clutch master cylinder sits out through the firewall so it had to go to let the engine sit back tight,
the idea of shelling out for a pedal box didnt appeal, so i butchered the standard unit. i really should have took the photo before cutting it, lol

and here is the botched up version which sits completely inside the firewall
it not pretty but it does the job

the brake servo and master cylinder was in the way too, so it had to go

I made an aluminium plate to mount the master cylinder on

and made a new bar to push the master cylinder, as the standard one was too short,

this will be some car for the track
get the pics from last nite up lad
Cool Project man...
Rare site with the charger on it..

took it out again to fit the injectors, and to modify the oil filter as it was not clearing the sub frame,
thought i'd weigh the engine and box when it was out,

the 13B with gearbox weighed 226kg, so the v8 including the charger and gearbox is 46.5kg heavier.
looking good lad keep the photos coming!!!:)

oil filter bracket piped for relocation

http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y...91534953_n.jpg
mounted the throttle body on the supercharger.

Needed some extra lock so lengthened the bottom arms for clearance, and shortened the steering arm on the hub,

http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y...13388195_n.jpg
same lock in both directions as there is no akerman
made up the manifold Y pipe today, what better way to spend the last day of the holidays!

finished, cheap and cheerful!

cool build
got her back from mapping, now to sort the steering, and finish off a few bits and bobs, took a wee video of her,

savage car man..
the belt was slipping on the charger so I modified the tension so it can be adjusted, should do the trick....
http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y.../tensioner.jpg
as the gearbox is shorter than standard, the gearstick is further forward and the tunnel had to be cut. here is the patch i put over the gap,
http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y...ynut/patch.jpg
I had a leak from the power steering, and an oil leak from the oil filter plate so i pulled out the rad and intercooler to get at them.
http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y...ynut/rx7v8.jpg
the standard rad was blocked up on one side so I got myself an alloy rad, ebays finest!
http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/y...t/alloyrad.jpg
I got a hydro cheap off a local rally man, there was a crack in the frame beside the master cylinder. I gave it a run of the mig and then set about makin it a bit more vertical!
