The spacer goes on the inside of the inner tie rod and increases the travel of the rack by the thickness of the spacer..
It is hard to get your head around, I use to find it hard to comprehend! But t does work! Your essentially increasing the size of the rack out put, not the tierod itself!
as standard, the rack doesnt use all its teeth and therefore doesnt travel as far as it can but when u put in the spacers it uses up the last bit at each end meaning it goes out to the very last tooth and thats how u get more lock! its hard ta understand til u put them in but then ull get it!
Knock the centres off the 1€ coin out and use them 2 each side it does work but can go over centre but ya get used of where it made out ;)
startin to understand now
now next question what do you mean when you go overcentre haha im a bit of a newb when it comes to these things :p
[QUOTE=slider80;271606]washers are cheaper hunt :p[/QUO
recession and al :D
Over centre is a little harder to explain without pics, but basically when the steering knuckle goes past a certain point the steering gets stuck, because when you try to get the steering out of full lock the rack is trying to push the knuckle into the lower control arm rather than push it back the way it's supposed to.
Mint!! 2 questions ive always wanted to know the answer to....
If you space the rack farther forward does this stop going off centre ? (sorry for hijack)
