yeah bad on petrol rob??
this is only goin be a track car.
whats the power like etc?? we're thinking of stripping it bare and go messing in it for the criac
Shite shite and shite....!
Would need a bitta work id say....! There fairly slow too and will probally blow up and break your heart....!
Why an rx8 so many better yokes out there...!
You say its fine and then you ask what milage it need to be rebuilt at..........:confused:
Ya pay peanuts you get monkeys....!
I don't think there's a specific rebuild interval.. Probably all depends on service history and shit?
63573.23 Miles....... :p
The standard recommended rebuild is every 60KM or 40000 miles but if it has been looked after properly, fsh every 3-5K all oils changed etc....and has had an owner that hasnt dogged it and taken good care of it it shouldn't need rebuilt
Prob be a good car to handle if there was a shit load of cash spent on it...alot of people use them in states...but there spending 1000's on engine and suspention mods
hmmm id say its just motorway miles. so id say it was looked after...
right this is the plan : buy the car, strip it, go to mondello and drive it to its death hit walls or watever, then eithier break it for parts or more than likey sell it for scrap . simples......
hmm yeah this isnt by any means a long term car. just a bit of tramping fun. lol a missile type thing.
but thanks so far for all the info lads keep it coming
My uncle has one in the uk got it brand new in 2005 and has high miles...never had to build the engine...just stupid small bits went wrong with it..he does'nt drive the socks off it tho...so i suppose that stands to it
yeah?? id say it would last a day in mondello or 2 and we will be happy...
i did a massive amount of looking into building one of these a few years ago!!!
the power in a stock engine is poor but should not be 2 bad in mondello once you build up good speed, but as for putting mods, coilover the bits ya need to build a gud car are silly moneys!!! id still love ta build one but by the time ya buy the car and build to comp spec it would be serious moneys!!
yeah well if this car is got. the only coilovers and stuff it will see if the 1's in my 180sx when its parked beside it. pure tramping wagon for the win...... we'll strip and cut watever isnt needed and giv her the beans.:D
Buy it and find out!
Was down with eddie doyle and we were having a chat about RX8 and only recently have Mazda gone back on there recommendation for fully synthetic oil, because thats what they were advising customers to use for years anyone with a mazda service history is worthless, Eddie has rebuilt 5 RX8's and I sold my 7 to him about a month ago...
Also if your getting one go for the 231bhp model, the 192bhp is a waste of time, the car is too heavy for the lower spec model and even though the 231bhp is better you feel it needs that bit more grunt when you won't get unless you go after market turbo kit. With handling they are spot on, aim, point and go is the easiest way to describe one, was driving it for about 2months solid and never disappointed however be prepared to spend a fortune on oil and petrol, you could go the premix route but bare in mind you'll be taking over from its previous owner, to keep the engine running smooth go for the right juice like Maxol E5 or Texaco with techron, no budget cost effective petrol stations or they will suffer... If you lift the oil cap and see a small bit of mayo don't worry this is to be expected with a rotary however anymore than a little and the water seals could be on the way out meaning rebuild time... Hope that helps dude...
Thanks for the info Brenden.. yes the car is the 231bhp car. the 191 is defo not worth a shite standard... it will be left standard and no money put into the car. its just for a bit of fun. :)
Use castrol mineral oil too dude :) try www.irishrotary.com
I'd say it would be a fun road car, they came with a 1.5 way diff as standard AFAIK
what your talking about stripping and abusing it on the track
don't think it would last too long IMO, maybe it will, but is it worth the gamble?
Parts are expensive and you'll need to be fairly familiar with rotary engines
running differences like to avoid carbon build-up your supposed to redline them everyday:rolleyes:
Some man having a tramper RX8
yeah was thinking about sr20det alright. but id say she'll just be heading for scrap if she does..
its up to my bro anyway. it his money and his car if he gets it.
oh yeah let her warm up and giv her the beans then man..
@Dave : haha yeah man fuk it. no car is ever too new to be a drift tramper.
If it's goin so cheap why not try swap or p/x for a decent spec'd s13 or s14 ???
actually that sounds like a plan. but we dont want to reck a good aul s14 hahahaha. he's looking into all this info he got on here anyway. and we'll see wat the craic is... anything rwd with some sort of power cheap will do for a few days in monello
jesus how cheap are you getting this for haha!! whats exactly wrong with it for it to be cheap enought to use as a missle?? body damage??
