Who still has this in a sr20?? For those who hav got rid of it, what have you done to help cool the engine??
arent the viscous fans on sr's supposed to be realy good??
Why would you remove it  it cools the engine also put the cowling on aswell!
Keep it, if its fucked and can turn easily then just bolt it up solid, but I wouldn't get rid of it.
my elec fan came off 1 day im just running that fan ever since i think there BRILLIANT leave it fo sho;)
i've electric fans in mine but had to cause of where i have the intercooler.if you've no issues with space leave in the viscious.and if your looking to run cooler drill 3 or 4 2mm holes in the thermostat, works a treat on my yoke anyway
What ever you do, Don't bolt it up solid; there's good reason for it being viscous...
I had one seize on a E39 520; it disintegrated while overtaking only to punch two good holes straight through the bonnet, destroyed all the plastic cowling, cut clean through a radiator pipe and broke the secondary heating pump in half. And I’d only borrowed the car
Keep the viscous. I swapped mine for 2 electric fans and normal water temps went up over 10deg and oil 8deg. Pulled them off and went back to viscous after 1 drive.
Remember the viscous needs the cowling to do it's job properly, way too many lads run them without for god knows what reason
why take it off??? leave it and the cowling..
I meant that if its fucked then bolting it up will make it better.and i don't think having it bolted up would have done that?i'v had bolted one's on a road car and on a track car with no trouble. But a good condition unbolted one is the job,the more you rev the nuts off it,the more cool air its getting!
mmm may as well keep mine then!!!
dont have the cowling anymore, it saw the inside of a skip a few months ago
what water temps do people see when on the track, i have oil cooler, 50mm rad, viscus fan with coweling in place+ a/c fan wired to a switch and still over 150degrees after a lap or two
fuck a duck!!! what oil do you use??
no problem with oil temps never goes past 90, just water reading off the top hose
Ignore I posted too late
