yes we did have a oil restrictor on it the problem is there a plastic cage on the bearings they also generate huge heat in the engine bay i normally took off the bonnet it used to boil the power steering fluid so lost power steering fluid also i would reccomend a screamer elbow on it to reduce heat i was running it at 1.3 bar boost pullin third no hassles wit it but they run outta guts at bout 6k if i was bak again id have gone for a jrp gt 30 drove jamies car wit 1 on it and the power was mental on a standard engine and it ran 1.8 bar boost all day safely tbh im only speakin from experience gained from my mistakes and the amount of them that i no have shat themselves although now i believe they can be got with wrc steel bearings in them which should be ok but the turbo must be specified with them fitted

It's our own type turbo,it's based on a gt3071 but to our own spec

Its a build/project thread not a talk shit about homemade turbo thread;)

first of all he never said the gt2871r isnt a good turbo,because it is but they have known to give trouble,ask colfer he had trouble with them to,and owens devolpments the garrett dealer said they had to fit them with Wrc style bearings in them to solve the problem once again ask them,he then said about the GT30 was a great turbo which they are for drifting,he was giving advice like i did earlier in this tread,as for spamming take it up with him as i gave my advice earlier and then when asked as question replied so take it up with him as i aint spamming any tread.

yea well i know what the 3071 are..
ye not find them bit laggy though???
was told to go for the 2871r cause they are very responsive and not laggy..
and @ grimix180 who maps your car??? TDP???

no lad not one bit laggy at all,there maybe 200-300 rpm earlier on full boost,nothing a clutch kick cant sort:Dbut the 2871 dont pull out top end like the gt30,and youve so much trottle response with the gt30 as it come in so quick.ive driven alot of drift cars with both turbos and once you drive a car with a gt30 you will never go back to anything else trust me on that;)
the 2871 would sell in uk very quick so my advice is sell it and go GT30 i promise you will not regret it
