Was made by an engineering lecturer in a local collage was 100% right never damaged a centre bearing just rattled boxes very quickly I don't have a pic was on car wen it was sold and never seen it again after!

the machined aluminium piece them boys were onabout I've been looking into a lot, think Im going to go down that route now after looking at the Guibo in the car today
Found this by RevShift

Semi Solid, Heres what the feedback I've got on it so far, wading through the bullshit..
-A fully solid one is not an option its too solid, this semi solid piece is the step up from stock
- Removes gear slop (I have noticed this)
-with this piece the gearbox flanges has to be aligned precisely with the diff flanges, as the rubber guibo used to take the tolerence of a few degrees, with the new piece you're right down to about 1-2 degrees of alignment from parallel. Tis might require shimming the gearbox mounts ect to get alignment perfect, also meens Im going to go with the Revshift Poly Engine Mounts and Gearbox mounts to solid it all up

anyways this is the underneath of the car after 4 laps, Guibo torn to shite.. the cause of the carrier bushing failure

and what it did to the carrier

After lookin at this mine is so goin to go in absulute shite i made the prop my self in my v8 e30. And iav seen already with the new touring shell for some reason the prick isnt sitting exact with the output shaft of the back o the gearbox dont no whats causing it as it was fine in the coupe
In the E36's the M3's could handle the intolerence in the drives without vibrations as they have a CV joint on the diff side rather than the universal joints in all the other models..
my revshift stuff is finally through customs & now with An Post.. May not have to turn down the power for sunday afterall :D which meens I have the great pleasure of having to go aligning at the weekend now before tynagh
picked up this handy gadget for aligning the drives

Why not loose the carrier bearing all together and have a solid prop? Would work a treat!!
Ps, seen this around Tynagh, some job :)
Revshift bits finally came

Started at it then after the pollution went away
http://i872.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps46f557ee.jpg
then a look at the Guibo / Flex Disc... old vs new
http://i872.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps7c355269.jpg
With the rear of the car lifted the Diff is 4.5 degrees off vertical tilting down, while the gearbox only was 1 degree tilting up.. difference 3.5 & needs to be under 1 degree, shimming the diff carrier to reduce that angle

class
new engine & gearbox mounts fitted & alignment done by shimming the diff carrier with 4 washers above the rear bolts.
Revshift coupler fitted along with a fully balanced propshaft

ready for tynagh
http://i872.photobucket.com/albums/a...psa981d367.jpg
then tynagh, turned her down a good bit on the day to get a bit less sensitive throttle and less torque rather than the more on/off way it was set for on the previous dry day as it had been turned up so much

So after the day and from our bit of a roadtest saturday I can say there were absolutely no extra vibrations up through the gearstick while its driving.. if anything theres less..
the gear changes felt much more solid and less slop which was nice..
the engine mounts are veeeeeeery hard indeed and theres absolutely no engine flex any more which is also good
I also have noticed a bit of a flutter in the top end of the revs every now & then when the car is cold, where its like the car starts to only run on only 3 or 4 cylinders
after much deliberation & figuring out its as if there is an injector or two sticking open at the high revs & not atomising the diesel atall, but pouring it into the cylinders instead...
Next step in the coming weeks is to take the injectors out & test them all, both pressure test & leak test them
some man for the work Kev. I'll buzz ya over the week-end.
