Looks so different in a dress than a racesuit :)
lol another thing which i was curious about was how wesley keating was allowed run in the super series sunday, could anyone have entered? And another thing that young fella in the 180sx was top class but is the entry age not 15?he was 13.Its gas the way prodrift bend their rules to suit themselves.

Woooooooooooop nice one si!! fun fun fun win win win:D
nice day and some great driving
ffrench, power and mccarthy stood out
agree about the judging, some of the decisions were plain stupid, but thats the nature of drifting and you get it in all drift competitions, some ppl are just favoured over others
What a cool mix of cars we had at the stand! And various cool burger throughout the days!
agh the session tent some good times had....
i think also the commentators were favouring other drivers and putting some off as there beginning there drift
McKeever was allowed to compete id say as he was a top 8 finisher in the first round of the EDC in the UK and also a regular top 8 finisher in division 1 in the UDC in the north, and because of that he would be allowed compete dispite his age.Quote:

Wes is competing in the entire super series championship, he competed in the first round in the UK. I know they can suit themselves but not in these cases.
raging i didnt get a burger :(
Finally got a chance to post......the dam hotel was a balls with no net!!! Well im truly wrecked, got home bout 6 this evening Sun burned to death, hungry, tired but happy!! Did well on my first day i think, got 4th on Novice and bumped up to Semi Pro for a bit!! Didnt get top 16 tho not close enough to the wall! My favourites of the weekend was McCarthy, McDonagh, Mike Deane, Wee Man in the Skyline, Wez, Johhny P and ofcoarse Martin french!!! Mccarthy you are unreal!!! What a nutter!!!
Must thank Claire my Girlfriend for getting her hands dirty and helping me out all weekend and Clive too, your a legend!! BIG thanks to WKD too for helping me with my fuel problems!
Best weekend ive had in a long time and didnt even need drink! Roll on the UDC :)
Come on lads FFS, ye sound like a bunch of contrary little bitches ! (I mean that in a loving sort of way :))
If PD was based on who you were, then why didn't Eric or Shane Lynch qualify for Top 16 ? The judges laid down EXACTLY what they wanted the drivers to do, some could but most couldn't. Not many people were getting the clipping zone under the judges tower, which was used as two clips, both in and out. Some seemed to be struggling with the two in the teardrop as well. It doesn't matter if you go out with loads of speed / smoke and angle, if your not on your clipping points your at nothing.
As regards to Non-Seed scoring low, they're judged exactly the same as if they were in seeded if you get me ? So a 95 point run in amateur, non-seeded and seeded is the exact same run. There is no individual class scoring.
Judges make decisions on what they see and we're not always going to agree with them. That's the beauty of the beast, it would be such a boring sport if everything was determined by driftboxes as we would have nothing to talk and argue about afterwards !
The Super Series was the best event I've covered since D1 in 2006. The Superlap is the best addition to drifting since Tsuiso. The driving was spectacular, Ffrench was on a different level to everyone else, even driving a stock engined S14. It just re-enforces the fact that drifting isn't about the horsepower, it's all about the driver !
I've uploaded the galleries to here >> http://www.flickr.com/photos/paddymc...7619012902899/
paddy mc your pics are deadly man fair play
Cheers dude, thought it was about time I signed up here !
Savage pics Paddy, fairplay!!! U get any of moi?
Sums up a lot of what I was going to post in relation to the lads comments!
Must also mention Tommy McDonagh in the 740 Volvo into this as well. No bodykit, no flashy wheels, no big named sponsors or anything and look how well he got on. Similar story for John Paul McCarthy in the BMW.
Echo Paddy about the Superlap too, really good addition as I said before after Ennis, really pushes the drivers for perfection and great lines with just the one shot to decide their fate in the battles.
And again it is the driver, that's what makes Irish drifting head and shoulders above other countries in my opinion, James Deane's SR20d S14, JohnoConnell, Ffrenchy and the lads I've mentioned above to name but a few with modestly tuned cars compaired to the norm
SAVAGE WEEKEND
Sun, drifting and bitcheeeeeeez!!!
Great action from the irish, doing us proud and the guys from across the sea's were quite impressive!
Bon was on fire but unfortunetly went the wrong way in his top 8 run so he was out..
Dan Moorehead is a mad man, very impressive.. aswell as the 13year old!only in ireland, ha!
Saw frank, fair play to him, was going real well!
Fair play to chucky, drove brilliantly.. was chatting to him while gazing at Bons R32:D
And Ffrenchy drove soooooo well on sunday, always such a crowd pleaser!
Had such a laugh with the DI stand, meeting a few members and greating a few strangers! fair play to all for coming over and having the craic!

cefiro and the DI stand in general ARE proper WOMAN MAGNETS!!! it was great, i even exitedly (drunkly) said goodbye to one of the prodrift girls and she whipped down her cacks for us all to see! haha! then had the modified motors girls come over and bathe in the luxury of the cefiro ha! pink cages lads, do it, its a sure thumbs up!
Haha legend,
Four doors for more whores :D
Hold on there a minute paddy, were entitled to our opinions aswell as everyone else so dont come on here and tell us were a bunch of contrary little bitches just because you dont agree, none of us said anywhere that frenchy didnt deserve to win because he did, he was on a level above everyone at punchestown, favoritism IS something that goes on in pro-drift and always has and it did go on on a few occasions at the weekend, lads always get upset when theirs something said about PD but its still a fact, one of them commentators even let a comment slip about one particular battle on saturday afternoon, the weekend was insane, the drifting and track and drivers and of course the fanny was top class, nobody is taking anything away from the weekend PD put on, and i agree i think the super lap is one of the coolest things to come into drifting lately.
the reason most people didnt get that clipping point in front of the judges area is because they didnt want to do damage to their cars, its a bit of a disgrace and im not the only one who agrees that the big metal barrier was a bit stupid, why not have it but in front of it put them plastic barriers at least it would take some of the impact, you dont see them in england etc using metal barriers as clipping points.A lot of peoples cars were badly damages, after all were the guys/gals pumping the money into the cars and were the ones who attract and entertain the crowds.right rant over :D
Wholeheartedly (sp) agree with you there lad.
It was a bit drastic, and a wee bit too extreme in my opinion.
We weren't long there when the wee white Twin Cam came round the left hander, only to catch his tail, which then pulled the car into the barrier, and when that happens, theres no chance of getting off it due to the momentum picked up from the entry.. Even the commentators said the exact same thing.
As you say, folk are there to see a show put on my alot of self-funded drivers, and that kind of thing would put alot of boys off (myself, my brother and the fella we were there with wouldnt even contemplate that track), but then again, i suppose thats the risk involved and thats what seperates the boys from the men..
Even Bishopscourt has tyres right round the place, and an armco barrier that can move under serious impact to outline the middle of the track to save writing off the cars... ;)
I understand where your coming from lads but as the saying goes he who dares, WINS.
Known theres a tyre wall and known theres a steel barrier there will put you in two completly different frames of mind.
im a fair beliver in if your not willing to kill it you shouldn't even think about going out, but my car aint worth half the money of some PD cars.
I never said that any of you said that Ffrench didn't deserve to win
I'm not being a smart arse but could you give me an example of favouritism in Prodrift ? I only ask because everyone seems to throw those words around without any substansiating evidence. Anytime someone has felt hard done by, they give the 'favoritism' line but if they go and ask the judges why they will get an in-depth answer as to why that decision was made. To be fair, unless your sitting in the judges seat, you do not have the best view of the course and as such are not qualified to make a fully informed decision from anywhere else on the course.
What was the comment from the commentator by the way, couldn't hear fuck all trackside !
But the clipping point wasn't the barrier, it was the hugenormous white box on the ground that they only had to put two wheels into. You don't have to physically hit a clipping point, you just need to be on it ! Obviously if you can rub it, your going to be scored higher but you don't ever have to make physical contact with it.
Nobody puts a gun to anyones head to force them to compete, it's a personal choice and like pretty much all motorsports theres a risk of writing your car off. The judges make the track as difficult as possible to improve the level of driving, it's the main reason why Irish drifting has probably the drivers in the world !
Agree with ya in one way lad but not another!!! Like ya i didnt go to close as it was my first day out but the seeded and non seeded lads should love a challenge like that!! What were u skiddin dude??
Oh and hi to Bart too, met him soooooo randomly in Portlaoise today!! :D
Ted i can give countless examples as could most people if they wanted to but i have alot of respect for the drifters so im not gonna go mentioning names and risk insulting them, and your right the judges do have the best view but that also means the commentators have the exact same view, and the comment was in relation to a big name vs unknown name, the judges were not allowing lads to cut the big bend low to overtake(due to it being an outside clipping point) but for some reason they decided to let a big name do it and the comment made was ''the judges seem to have changed there requested driving line there''......cant remember the rest word for word so i wont put words in there mouth, i wasnt hard done by but could see it happening.
cant remember who the battle was with but james dean was deffo "off the line" and went tru. nearly everyone one the MNC stand came out with the two famous words "PRO FIX"
I thought it was amazing moorehead only got 17 points tbh a slight straighten but he ran the wall both ways as close as it gets without the crashu and hit all the clipping points:mad: balls out agro driver:D
Would you PM it to me Barry if you wouldn't mind ?
I didn't see the top 16 on Saturday evening, so I can't comment directly on the runs your talking about. I'm not making excuses for James but was there a chance the other made a similar mistake or something else ? In fairness, Kearney was punished for taking the inside line against Lenihan and was booted out for it so there was surely some reason why James went through ? But again, I didn't see it !
Savage wkend.....
Super series...French was on fire, def proves its da driver not da car :)
Irish Seeded Pros...Mike Deane....couldnt be happier for a driver, been a long time comin, all last yr he was livin in James's shadow now its time for Mike to shine :D :D
Irish non seeded...Damien Shortt :D Im extremely bias so wont say anymore other than the car is in serious need of repair due to wall rubbin but the trophy looks good on my locker :D :D
Agree with Paddy on most of above points....its easy pick on the big names but if Pd were bias why did Shane Lynch and Eric not qualify!!!
Dan Moorhead=we were in Sinnotts workin on Damiens car fri evenin and Dan came sideways in the gate in some old banger,he was up for it tis wkend :)
to think he drives that car to and from an event is amazin....the roads of Carlow have to be warned Dan is a nutter :p
id have to agree lads that the best scoring line was close to the armco everyone was told this and its their own decision wether to shave it or not,In amatuer we wer told that the best line was as close to the barrier as possible and they were right cause on my second qualifing run i kept close to the barrier and you could link fully the big long left hander and scored alot higher and qualified 12th.
with regards to it being a fix i dont believe that for a minute, surely if that was the case ffrenchy ,mcdonagh or mccarthy wouldnt get a look in:)
well!! i had a greAT WEEKEND!!! aside from the complete sun-burnage it was a complete success!!!!!!!! was good to put a few morre faces to names too folks so wel hav to keep these events cumin!!!
