Thanks Chris, I really cannot add to this. This is pretty much where we are coming from. With competition there is loads of track time. As stated before we had one guy do 77 miles on Saturday (77 Laps).:)

as much as some people love competitions id sugest just keeping it to the same times as last time 2 hours as alot of the people that go to aghadowey are going for practise etc as there isnt many tracks up round here that give u that for the little costs. just my suggestion :)
Any more pic or vids of last sat????
Yes practice is boring for fully built
Proper drift cars with experienced
Drivers behind the wheel . practice days
Are for novice drivers and amateurs to
Have a days drifting without the pressure
Of spectators watching their every move
And encourages people that have never
Drifted but would love to try the opportunity
To decide for themselves if it's the sport for
Them. Jus saying events shouldn't be geared
For what is the minority if new drivers are not
Encouraged to enter it will never be thought
Of as proper sport which is why it's so hard
To get premises to hold events and keep
Them open
This is a post from jap scrap page 8 of this thread and this is exactly what is happening. If it goes the same way as bishops court a pile of sitting about eating up track time I think its a waste. As for the 77 miles you have to remember the car is spinning most of the time so will be a good bit less.
You drift in front of spectators anyway lad. no better way to get the hang of it. when you get stuck in with every1 else. last day out there was a young lad in purple 180 that never done a drift day before. He finshed 2nd
I would encourage every1 to give it a go no doubt, you dont need a fully built drift car either, i drifted a sierra for along time before i bought the skyline. Won alot of events in it.. like castlefin nutts and bishopscourt..
Sorry just 2 add 2 all that, experienced or not.. everyday is a school day your always learning new things everytime your out...;)
I know this u know this but ta get men ta have a go that havent
Done it before is the hardest thing in the world but once they get
One run out they are hooked but once competition is mentioned
They're not going to enter
Dont think aghadowey is ever going 2 be anything like bishopcourt, u would never get the track time for the same money and for this being my second drift day in my car the track time was great and the comp was chance 2 c how i was doing in my car, plus everything is run as smoothly as possible considering this was only the second event, look at bishopscourt... how many years has it been running and you still have to sit around for half an hour everytime a new group are going out on the track. Aghadowey gets my vote anyday!!
2 be honest lad thats up to them weather they want to enter the comp or not, theres no preasure that way.. if the comp is run earlier it really makes no differance as the track time will still be the same.. Anyway we'll leave it to the poeple thats running the event to decide whats going to happen.
It was me in the Purple 180 who came second last time, it was my first time on track and I had a great time, I loved the fact we could go out and have a great day on the track then have a competition towards the end of the session, gave me a good feel for what things could be like if you enter a proper drift series.
It was my first time twinning or even competing against anyone else, I was actually sitting there shaking on the start line however the adrenaline buzz was fantastic.
I would like to see a competition happen again as it was a great experience, my only thought to make things even better is to do the competition between 2:30 and 4:30 giving people 30 mins out on the track towards the end of the day, I noticed last time things were slow in getting lined up etc at the start, maybe have the cars sitting waiting to go before there turn so it can all be sorted quickly and smoothly before 4:30?
A was at the last event and loved it and deffo will be
Back for the next jus would hate ta see it turn into the
Same as everywhere else where it's just about competitions
And sittin about waitin
Thanks Guys for the suggestions, opinions and good comments. This is what we encourage. As we stated before we are 100% Drift. We do what we do purely for the love of the sport. There is arguments for and against how different formats should run on the day. I for one have not a problem running a drift practise all day, It would be less hassle. But Having travelled most of this year to drift practise days at Mondello, Portlaoise, M1 Balbriggan and Castlefinn it soon becomes clear that drivers having been to these events say more than twice are looking for a new challenge. This is where we thought yes maybe a competition may add a twist to the day. Drift Practise is the priority. Competition is choice. If we feel that competition is starting to eat into the drift practise time. Then we will run competitons on a completely separate day. But to be fair I think we have a good balance at present:)
just get another one going soon i want out again b4 the year is over lol its al gud just as long as every 1 has a good time
just another wee pointer, noone is being forced to enter the competition, infact i did mention to the organisers and some drivers that even they are not confident enough or dont want to enter a show/road car in a competition there is no problem, but what i did say was why not do the qualifying side of things, its basically what everyone has been doing in the practice sessions only difference is you get a score.
could be a bit of fun for people not wanting to twin battle but are interested to see what kind of score they would get etc.
i started in my road car doing test sessions in bishops court, then was kindly allowed to practice the udc tracks with the pros, then i progressed and entered qualifying, then entered the comp and now im glad i did as i would never have got the potential from the car or myself if i hadnt and im still learning every time i sit in the car
i loved the comp side of this, i know i got put out but it was my own fault and learned from it, it gave me more of a rush doing qualifying and in the battles than the whole day but that was just me, bring on the next one! any bloody pictures about?
Bump for any pics of this day
