ill try to get out in the car again soon fingers crossed and have some better photo's and maybe and incar video or 2
looks class man!
Wel, it’s been a while since this thread has been used so ill blow the dust off.
The car has been in hibernation all summer getting some things done.
-That white vertex front bumper, ye it matte black now and cleaned the front a bit better
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8049/8...0b71bbfe_z.jpg
-I got myself a t28 bb from a late s14a (pretty much close comparison to s15 turbo)
-braided turbo lines
-ebay decat with gaskets
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8186/8...c8d31efe_z.jpg
-downpipe gasket
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8188/8...2205d27a_z.jpg
So combination of the turbo, screamer pipe, 3’’ downpipe, decat and cat back exhaust should help with the power side of things
I took out all the from suspension, stripped the wiring from inside the bay along the arches etc nd got busy with the wire brush as some of the sealer was cracking under the arches so before the rust settled in I went and stone chip the arches and then inside the bay I got the turrets and arch tubs painted kuro black with nice bit of clear coat on top. This cleaned the bay up and under the arch to get ready for the better bits to arrive :D
-got myself some daiyama coilovers from japspeed when I seen a deal going on sxoc.com for members of the forum, great people to deal with so out the the old (and very old) in with the new
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8467/8...430d5139_z.jpg
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8191/8...e6692647_z.jpg
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8191/8...baf62850_z.jpg
-to mate those I got some adjustable tension rods (set to stock length until I get other arms in )
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8196/8...3b60109a_z.jpg
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8195/8...2554f72d_z.jpg
-I added a d.i.y front splitter to the bumper and I can amagine it won’t be on the bumper long when im driving but hey looks cool haha and I added some ducting to help draw some air to the engine bay
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8464/8...75817b2d_z.jpg
Scrolling the net dungdeal add came up with some cheap 18x9.5 and 18x8.5 wheels so I jumped on them and like any car, a nice set of wheels makes them! There replica’s of the advan TCII’s, kei racing d1’s. bout damn time I have a full set of nice rims for it! 25mm spacer on the front, might get a spacer for the back aswell after I get camber arms and roll the arches, also you mught see in the photo I got a harness from my brother :D (about time)
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8047/8...466b350d_z.jpg
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8187/8...64b7fa33_z.jpg
I reckon ill end up trying the 18’s when drfting but quickly switch to the 17’s and 16’s so no biggy.
Now with those bits done I reckon ill pay a visit to goldstone on the 10th for to see if all this money spending was worth while :D
I have another nice bit baught for it but ill leave that for another update
Front splitter looks really tidy. She is coming along nicely now.
Although Goldstone is probably not the best track to test new coilovers.
The wheels look good on it .like the navan spoiler ya dont see many of them around.
there hated upon so much and i don't know why! i like them, seen a s14 in japan with and without one and it looks lower with! well thats my oppinion anyways. there was a standard spoiler on it when i got it, but there was holes for a navan so i sourced one off a friend and wacked her on. better than filler anyday
Yeah i think navans dont look right without the spoiler.my navan had been despoilered and it looked wrong so i put one on it.you gonna try and get a navan kit for this?
looking good man! need to get some tension rods myself!
surely was peden
so update after goldstone as follows
bonnet painted matte black to make it a bit more respectable
yesterday in goldstone was epic :D had a blast
-1st run in the car i seen the track was wet so i kept the 18's on the rear only when i went out on track it was bone dry so alot of pressure was on the car
-2nd run car was going well with 16's on it for a majority of the run, totally different then it started to shudder (me thinking it was fuel)
-3rd run same problem after i put fuel in it (intercooler pipe came off)
-4th run was the best in day light anyway got 3rd gear early in corners to link the course. the new layout of the track makes entries alot faster heres a vid of that run
Declan Byrne Incar Brian Butler Memorial Goldstone - YouTube
in the vid the cars clutch wasn't great has been for a long time now so it some parts it just wouldn't get gears but i had fun flicking the hell out of it in corners.
-5th run i didn't get an incar of because it was so dark but there might be 1 or 2 outside vids of it. went out behind paul murphy and jamie russel following
it was a practice before the battles so i went oput and pushed the car really hard, maybe to hard. was having a blast kept giving it 3rd and in some cases i kept it in 3rd after a good 10 laps i'd say i went to change down to 2nd coming up to top corner the clutch went to the floor that was my day over
but what a day the car went for the majority of it, and it was my 2nd time in total out in the car! so i had fun and was shurely my first time taking 3rd gear (pictures and maybe more video's to follow)
good stuff man! i assumed i was the youngest on here haha i love the thread and the s14
nope i'm 19 haha i wish i started out with a 240 when i was 15, i stood around the sidelines of all my local drift events till i finally could afford a 2nd car this past summer. that's pretty boss though that you have the opportunity to drift so young, you'll have to take me for a ride at one of the events this spring :afro:
heres a few shots i got from the day off facebook

wow those little 16's are lost hahaha
http://sphotos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...75812210_n.jpg
Oh boy oh boy where do i start with this, it's been a very long time since this was updated so keep that in mind it might not be in order :p
From what i can gather it goes as follows
Since the last update ive got a cage in the car which i then painted white and put carbon strips on the door bars which came up a treat
I also fitted a Greddy Profec B boost controller all went smoothly with no hicups thank god. I also had to move my pillar gauges to the centre and i fitted a proper FIA cut off as the last one was a pain in the rowlers.
Heres a few pics

https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.n...51695160_n.jpg
I also got the clutch replaced and a braided clutch line.
The problem with the car was the release bearing seized from heat, twisted off the clutch fork and had no clutch, in the mean time the release bearing was spinning doing it's own thing and broke a collar off a plate just inside the bell housing.

https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.n...74277768_n.jpg
luckily enough after a bit of contacting i got a replacement part from jay rockett at DI Motorsport and i also got a rear section of a prop with a good carrier bearing as mine was fairly shot so big thanks to him!
While the cage was being fitted and most of bits were takin out i rotated my cylinder on the hydro as it wore my big elbows a fair bit :p
https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.n...15787305_n.jpg
I fitted some Ebc yellow stuff pads and some rear anti roll bar mount bushes from superpro.
I painted my rocker cover the same as my blue 17'' wheels and is rocking a autolifers sticker to set it off a bit (see what i did there)
https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.n...61332310_n.jpg
Jeez when I was 15 I could only dream about having a Silvia. Nice project goodluck with it!!!!!!!
After all that i went i booked a private day at goldstone with my good friend alan hynes for the second time lucky and that it was. big time!
The car was flawless, from start to finish i never lifted the bonnet for a need to check anything the only thing i had to do was refit tyres which for the first time owning the car i came home with all of them completely shredded!
I got alot of pics and a few incar vids which i give props to a friend of mine at irishraceandrally for coming along and doing more than brilliant!

Heres some pics of alans s14, both of us be mad for the zenki's and shizzle
For a man who had no brakes (and when i mean none i mean he had his foot to the floor and had no option but to stay going through the pit entrance and me in wonder as to why he was back early and went back again  )
he was on a flyer with him doing the first day in his car, yet to see him go and iron out the problems!

So after the excellent day i had in the car i could now focus on some other things
Summer was here, my leaving cert is over, and now the s14 should get some more quality time
Stevo on here mentioned a driftday for driftireland to raise money for charity and i signed up straight away.
So since the cage is in the car the passenger stock seat won't fit, so im getting the other fixed back i have modded to the stock rails fairly soon so passenger spins are looking possible.
The steering lock on the car is stock, so i run out of it fairly fast and seem to get the hang of it. Plans are to sort that with some lovely extra lock nuckles, extended lca's and either move the rack or use offset rack spacers and tein tie rods.
Ive never liked the fibreglass front wings, i did a crap job painting them, they were a bit rough the body line wasn't great as it was shaved down by a previous bright boy and i wanted to go back to stock wings. Randomly enough petert and i decided to swap. I rolled them, prepped them, primered them and stone chipped the entire inside of them and near the sill area and near the front where the bumper hides. All they need now is paint
https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.n...17793019_n.jpg
Giving the car a full service and i also decided to strip off the inlet manifild to clean it out aswell as the throttle bodie. In the long run i ended up taking everything i could off both parts of the inlet mani and give it a full clean and go over with some paint

https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.n...35705412_n.jpg
I got a dmax roof spoiler from dorirory on here with super fast postage and good fitting product! yet to paint and fit but heres a mock up. Ive never seen a single pic of a zenki s14 with navan boot spoiler and dmax roof spoiler and im safe to say it looks like a good combo! photo below got on the s-chassis facebook page, was pretty happy to see it on there ;)

https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.n...57938477_n.jpg
If you notice ive gotten rid of the what i know now as the cheesy as shit stickers on the windows but i kept the good ones
Plans are as follows for the drift day at goldstone in august 18th
-Paint wings
-Get passo seat mounted and extra harness fitted
-Extra lock (not to fussed if not)
-fit inlet mani and have all of the engine a good service with Lucas 10w60, oil filter, fuel filter and NGK BKR8EIX plugs
-replace the exhaust which is yet for an update
-Put spring catches on the wings holding the bumper which a friend of mine happily donated to me :D
-Aero Catches that I purchased also
hope to keep the updates flowing as much as i can :)
That dmax spoiler looks really well!
Great s14 this is, under the hood is immaculate and the rocker cover is a lovely colour! Great s14 and a dream to have one at your age Declan FairPlay!!!
Looking forward to seeing more!
FORGOT TO SAY I GOT A REAR STRUT BRACE ASWELL!!! hahaha
just read the whole build thread there :)fair play ime relay itching to do something like this as ime young aswel :) ps what type of bolt in is that saw something on dw and was wondering what they were hadnt seen one like it till now looks like a realy solid one :)
Nah like the NASCAR style bars I've only ever seen a bolt in cage like that once :p:p was wondering what brand it was
ah right my bad, the cage i got from sean sinnott it was a cusco dash dodger but the from bars and door bars were done for pd rules. it had a logging sticker on it but i had to take it off to paint it. but it should pass idc rules from what i have read on the rules and asked a few people about it. there a pretty trick door bar i must say
update but no pics but soon to follow.
Got the inlet back on the car with all pipes etc and done the oil filter which was dead handy with the inlet off, fuel filter and new oil again with Lucas 10w60.
I didn't explain a ove as to why i took the inlet off so here goes.
When i replaced the t25 that was on for the time being with a t28BB turbo i noticed there was alot of oil inside the intercooler pipes, found out there was a turbo in before the t25 and the seals went. I cleaned the intercooler and pipes but never did the inlet and it was bugging me since to check it.
So after alot of degreaser and carb cleaner the throttle bodie got a full clean and go over and the inlet inside is now spotless as well as the fuel rail and everything else.
Back together tonight and fingers crossed it would work and RESULT it does! Now the car should breath a bit better hopefully with all that effort.
While i was looking i noticed my engine mounts aren't particularly great so im going to get some engine and gearbox mounts off japspeed on the sxoc deal they do on them which if you don't know about the deals they do, get on it! 130 is delivered for engine and gearbox mounts which imo is pretty damn cheap compared to others!
Aww cool sound man :) keep up the good work
lets try bring this up to speed then.
The wings i painted with cans from halfrauds and to my surprise, all the prep work on them worked a treat and they came out really good!
https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.n...35801441_n.jpg
Friend of mine did a lovely job combining the normak seat rails with the solid mounts so i could move the seat back and forth, while that was done i prepped them and painted them and i got some silver paint and glitter laquer and tidied up my spare seat aswell which came out savage!

i purchased whiteline anti roll bars and links etc off of jay @ DiMotorsport, again gent to deal with and fast postage with everything described 100%. Fitting them was easy enough too. Really top quality piece of kit!
(no pics of rear, don't know how i don't have pics of the rear but you get the idea)

gave the front bumper a going over with gloss, the matte wasn't really working. Fitted the spring catches, painted the roof spoiler and made some canards/splitter sides or whatever you may call em. heres how the car looked prior to goldstone

I got to meet some people and give some passenger spins so was a really good day.
Friend of mine which you would have seen earlier in the thread with a red s14, we finally got to go out on track together and get some tandems going! Sadly theres no pics of it as of yet and there should be incar vids of it soon but it was just such a cool experience to go out and do some close drifting. However there is one video thats not too long and had to cut some things out of it but its better than nothing
https://www.facebook.com/video/embed...35960209786720
(its a facebook video so not sure if everyone can view it)
That run was short it was only the first time out, but the incar vids to come of maybe another 4 sessions of the same thing with longer on door action so watch this space.
Last run of the day was cut short sadly. Out on track with alan and everything was going well, he spun i spun and i tapped my p/s door off him, that was fine but to my surprise another car came and hit my 1/4 and left a good hulk footprint in it

''Sure thats rallyin'' as they say :p
Ive 30mm quaters to come and the rear end is getting some gripfab attention. So onwards and upwards from here on in. Ive already started to collect some parts like rear lights etc.
review of the day from clutchkick.net http://www.clutchkick.net/2013/09/goldstone-drift-day/
More progress.
Got 30mm overfenders from Kits&Bits in northern Ireland
Great thanks to stephen@Kits&Bits for making these up for me. Really good fit. I've only roughly mocked them up to the car atm.
Heres the facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Kits-...711366?fref=ts
These cover the hole quarter and go right down to the bottom of the car which was exactly what i was looking for.

I recently purchased another shell for cheap money. Good shell no major rust atall. Im going to use that shell for it's shut lines around the bootlid and the back panel rather than twist and pull bent steel its just never going to be straight.
Ive booked the car into gripfab for them to do the work. More updates soon.
Car is sent to gripfab to have some fabrication done. Will try keep you guys posted im looking foward to seeing the final product its in good hands :)
got pictures from gripfab. More will come when she gets home and i take her all apart again for painting. Amazed at how fast it got done big shout out to john for making light work of it i would recommend anyone to him for cages or any car prep!
