It's sad but true. Always has been, always will be.

To be honest I pretty much agree with everything Robbie has said. Plus, with Prodrift not being a Motorsport Ireland recognised series this is going to have implications when it comes to other potential sponsors who help out in the Motorsport circles. Then the whole economy thing too, its just going to make it even harder to get money. (im not saying the economy alone actually makes it worse, but that its an excuse for a company to say no even if they didn't need to)

I dont know how it is now, but when I was sponsorship hunting there were always tricks to raising money, but it was never easy. And outside of this communtiy Prodrift doesn't get a whole pile of media coverage. I've never seen mention of it on the likes of RPM or in national newspapers etc.

I made my point on FB to Martin as to what I believe he should do, to at least buy him some time now. I hope he gets to drift this year either way, with the cars, drivers and the up and comming guys it should be a great year, would be the topping to see him and his car out there.

I never thought that my humble thread would create this :eek:. Some interesting views, points and comments.

The reason i put the car up for sale was because i realised that i wouldnt make the first round and therefore not do a full season and so i couldnt bare to look at it sitting there not being used. (i want to do a full season for once)

I then realised that i could not sell this car which had sat in my shed unfinished for years because of lack of funds untill recently when thanks to some awesome friends we took one road car and one track car And made what you see before you.

So i then realised that i would have to swallow my pride and put up this which yes is late but is a last ditch attempt to be able to even make the first round.

I never thought that i would not be able to do it with what i already had ie: sponsors etc. But hey such is life.

Ive got some really cool stuff lined up for this year for publicity so hopefully fingures crossed this will all come together.

All views, debates, opinions in this thread aside, I can safely say there isn't one drift fan that wouldn't love to see you do a complete season in 2011 so hope it all comes together for you ted ;)

Always said Martin was the best driver in Europe,And credit where its due!
Just get a season under his belt and options of all kinds will open up to him!
Be stunned if you completed a season and had the write this prior to 2012,
Be even more stunned if your drifting in Ireland after this year.

I don't think talent should be wasted.
It will be difficult to secure a sponsorship deal with our current economic climate.
I think you should be targeting individual company's rather than posting on here but I guess a long shot is as good as any;)

A lot of people on here dont understand how sponsorship works

most companies who sponsor use it as advertising which means they dont have to pay tax on it and it actually saves them movey and also makes them money in return because people see theyre name. So its a business decision and thats why its hard to get. It is not just some company giving you money or product because your a good driver

@Robbie - you are correct for nearly all of what you say. I also think you have benefited more than most for your imput into drifting because of your work on the likes of James Deanes car and also because you are the best in the country at what you do but i also appriciate that you have put a lot into it
Most series require the company wanting to sponsor to also buy into the series and mostly its the series that actually gets the tyre sponsors etc and not the drivers, So only for the series most of the drivers wouldnt have a tyre sponsor and i think everyone will agree that would be a bad thing

@Martin - you said it yourself dude, you want to do a full season for ONCE..... You may find it difficult to find sponsors cos you never cared about doing a full season before and a sponsor is not going to give you money or product for you to sell the car half way through. In the last 5 years you have done very little events so that doesnt make for a good proposal. You gonna have to go out as a privateer like we used to do in the good auld days:)

One thing i cant understand is why you had a carbon altezza, a road sr20 altezza, a rotary altezza and a Drift sr20 altezza???? would you ever just build a 180 for half the cost, it would take 2 months to build not 2 years and you would go out and win the championship. Be much easier build all your altezzas then with the inevitable sponsors you would pick up

Id love to sponsor you but it would be less risky putting my money in Anglo. Go get your shit together and go out and prove you can do it
