Listen to chrisb he knows what he is talking about.
I had RB25 ready to go and didn't put it in for the following reasons:
Bone stock RB and all bits are about 2k plus wiring, labour, fluids etc.
RB is a high compression turbo engine, nice for no lag but the skeleton of det on Irish fuel will take its toll very fast.
Out of the box 2k+ RB25 is same hp to stage2 CA18/sr20 LOL which cost max 500 to get there. What's the point?
MAX you can get from stock RB and turbo is 330 hp because:
injectors max out
afm max out
coilpacks won't tune, you neeeeeed splitfires ($$$$)
turbo is ceramic and on high boost will disintegrate throwing its internals into the engine killing it in process
also you need management/mapping for it, safc is a bodge way. RB25 ecu isn't mappable (or cost effective to do it) so £1000 powerFC is the only way to go.
Don't know limits of the internals, Steve Sadler said that 380bhp is easily achievable.
If you want big hp the list is endless and mega money (agree with chrisb here again) as everything is x6 plus have skyline tax as the companies tend to hit multiply button when they hear "skyline"
Insurance/road tax is another issue here.
man your just pulling numbers out of your arse there!
stage 2 set up on CA/SR is a lot more than 500.
power FC is the way to go? why because it has a fancy little hand commander ? fuck that Nistune supplied fitted and mapped €450 from stiv. same technology if not slightly better just minus the hand commander! that 550 saved right there.
people get hung up on brands when tuning costing them more money than it needs to!
oh news to me i was talking to that steve lad from fc in uk he was doing a deal for a heap of stock nissan ecus i had and he said that the 2 rb25 ones i had were no good as they are locked and cant do a thing with them!!
edit,,, just looked at my pms on dw it is the spec1 rb25 ecu that is no good
Calm down lad,
500 notes will easily cover s/h t28, chip, ebay fmic (does the job), s/h or ebay exhaust (does the job) no need to pay loads for it dude, it'll get wrecked on the track. That's the prices I pay anyway.
To my knowledge rb25det ecu's can be mapped but it's not cost effective hence PowerFC. I looked at steve sadler's website but no nistune for RB25 there (he's a nistune dealer).
AEM is a waste of time (from what I read) as it's not working well with RB CAS. I think Stiv and few others blew his RB30 on that management.
stiv def is running aem. I dunno about anyone else but i think the trouble he had with his block was a stroker crank that was made of chocolate.
